.....says PDP will rise back on its feet under his leadership

In continuation of the consultation on his PDP National Chairmanship aspiration with the critical stakeholders of the Party, His Excellency Dr. Phillips Omeiza Salawu, FCA on Monday 13th of May 2024 was at the Abuja residence of His Excellency, Dr. Sule Lamido, a former Governor of Jigawa State and a leader of the Party.

During the consultation visit, the former Deputy Governor of Kogi State and the First National Director of Finance of the PDP, lamented on the current state of the Nation and the responsibilities of PDP as the main opposition party.

Dr. Phillips Salawu said Nigerians expect more than what the PDP is offering to the Nation at the crucial moment, as the main opposition party.

"The APC National Government is making life difficult for Nigerians everyday and this poor governance has not been effectively checked by the PDP, the main opposition party.

PDP is therefore failing on its Political Responsibilities to the Nigerian State and must rise up to correct this anomaly without further delay.”

“Let me assure Your Excellency that the PDP will rise back on its feet under my watch to put the APC on its toes and check its current Policy excesses”, Dr. Phillips O Salawu said to his Excellency, Dr. Sule Lamido.

It high time we introduced new regulations for political party membership , funding, auditing and internal elections and debates. We have to remove funding of parties by powerful individuals with very strict punishment for defaulters. I would recommend electronic voting systems for party primaries and convention, compulsory debate for all candidates at least 2 tier for presidential Primaries accross all the states and then one prisedential for governorship across the lga and then a final state wide debate for the all contestant for the primaries. Government through inec could fund this and would be proportional to the party membership number and membership dues. Their has to be serious reforms of the political parties and election process
