No I didn’t. I don’t think you have to. If there’s a reason why you can’t interview in abuja then just go to the interview and be prepared to tell them the reason (although I wasn’t asked). What @dees said was correct, they’ll just retrieve your ds160 details from abuja to Lagos but you’ll wait like extra 20 minutes.

Although my honest reason was that my school start date is January and the earliest abuja interview date at the time was February.

Please don't. Your appointment has your application number. And it doesn't matter if on the visa application you choose Afghanistan as your embassy as long as you have your confirmation page, the embassy will scan the barcode and get all your information.

I actually saw in previous threads that it isn’t an issue and besides some agents I contacted said the same thing too.

Thank Goodness for getting past the pre approval stage. That 16th date eh, when you click it sef, it will show slot is already used.

I don’t know about selecting dates from a different embassy Sha. But I saw that the embassy recently posted on their socials that they know the current issues and are working to make appointment dates available.

My best bet is that the whole process is more manual than we think and just maybe, the election has a role to play in the delay.

My own is that we will get to the end of the tunnel. I also want to encourage every applicant with similar issues (or experience) to contribute, also try and complain to the appropriate channels, so they can be aware. Because the cost (visa, SEVIS, other fees) no be beans, so the least the embassy can do is to give applicants favorable dates (even if they want to deny anybody).

Please my abuja people, have any of you gotten your emergency interview request approved this week. If yes, how soon and did you do anything extra? Because I applied since Thursday and nothing yet.

This visa application process na just wait after wait smh.

@zinachidi, has your emergency appointment request been approved yet and are you for Lagos? Cause I just saw an early November date for Lagos which one can reschedule to. I am for abuja that’s why I didn’t select it, earlier dates are opening up little by little, January dates are also open for abuja rn.

I got approval within 3 hours. I included that I had paid my SEVIS fee in the information I gave, I don't know if it was what helped but I know coming across the fact that on the old platform, you had to pay SEVIS fee before an expedited appointment can be given. So I will advise anyone just paying for visa fee to pay SEVIS fee immediately too.

Take any available date, then apply for expedited appointment. Make sure you have paid your SEVIS fee. Write the date of resumption on the information part of the request, the course and the school. Write your SEVIS number and the fact that you have paid the SEVIS fee, then make sure you upload your i20 document. You will get dates in November. It's possible you get October dates too.

Ok my people....i finally got pass the preapproval request stage this morning (F1 -Abuja) after paying since 22nd Oct via First Bank. The US embassy is collecting data on the issues and based on your issue they are giving you instructions on who to email and which documents to attach etc. Follow the link below and answer the questions. This worked for me 2 days after filling out the info and they provided me with who to email and what to attach like MRV fee receipt I20 form etc. Then i got an email this morning saying my request for interview was approved GOD BLESS YALL

Equally got passed the preapproval stage today for abuja embassy (f1), I filled that form (emailed) also. Raised a ticket too. Anyways only dates from February 2025 were available, so emergency appointment is the way forward.

This is my fifth week of preapproval delay from Lagos, all just to get interview waiver letter from them (I suppose) and know my business is now with OIS.

It depends on how long is considered a delay. I uploaded my I-20 on tuesday morning last week, and it is still showing processing as at now. It's left for those that were approved for Abuja embassy to brief us on how long theirs took. Note mine is not renewal and is for abuja embassy.

I haven’t oh (a week now), turns out a lot of people are at this stage and it’s just depressing. Anyways, they actually replied my ticket, they said I should wait and raise another ticket if I don’t hear back in a while.

Please after paying for visa application fee in the bank, I logged into my account and clicked on pending appointment request and it took me to a page where I was asked to upload my I-20 and state the date of my travel which I did. Then I was told that my preapproval request is been processed.

How long does the request take before I can proceed?
