Simple question : If Biafra had won the war were the Igbos planning to come back to claim their WEALTH from Nigerian banks? How many Banks were in Nigeria in those days people like to lie to deceive themselves but facts are very stubborn, The reality is most people did not use banks and the of few that did most withdrew their savings because BIAFRA was a ONE WAY JOURNEY . There were two main banks Standard Bank( Now first bank) and Barclays( Now Union Bank) between them they did not have 20 branches in the entire country. Nigeria was still quite backward but many people talking nonsense here are kids

The Nigerian government gave 20 Nigerian pound i.e 40 ponds sterling which today is the equivalent of £300 sterling zbout 170000 Naira today to every Biafran who claimed to have bank accounts but could not provide proof. Your leaders would lie about the truth but those who had proof got their money back. The truth is Most people did not have proof and many withdrew their life savings because they never planned to return . They exchanged their money for Biafran pounds and Ojukwu spent it.
let us consider a few facts without emotions. By 1970 at the end on the war Nigeria was not an oil exporter and had just spent a lot of money on a war. Where did that money come from? It is a credit to Awolowo that the allocation for the Eastern region was kept each year and at the end of the war it was handed over to Ukpabi Asika.It is also a credit to him that at the end of the war the country was not in debt.

Imagine the mood in the country then when money from other regions was set aside to pay Regional allocation and the equivalent in today's terms of 170000 Naira immediately after a war. Imagine paying that kind of money today even when we have oil to people from the North East.How easy is it.? People tell you folk all kinds of lies about Awolowo and you swallow them foolishly

Again people say Awolowo impoverished Igbo through Indigenization decree. The man resigned from Gowon's government in 1971.FACT. Do not take my word for it do the research.

Now check what year the Indigenization decree was promulgated.Again research it rather than take my word for it. The reality is the Igbo have dealt with the loss of the war by blaming Yoruba and that is not only unfair it is false. But when faced with the bitter truth many just blank it out. Did Yorubas kill Igbos at any time because they were Igbos? Did Yorubas enforce Abandoned property decree even though they could?
The reason why we are always on top is because we are fair while you hide hate in your hearts and then imagine that others too hold the same kind of hate as you do.
Deal with the truth and stop lying to your children. Yes a lot of wickedness was visited on your people but you know who to blame .About 5-10 % of that belongs to Ojukwu and the other 90 % elsewhere certainly NOT the Yoruba.

The Yoruba treated you a lot better than you deserved based on your interaction with them before the war.
I have no doubt that if the shoe was on the other foot in Lagos you would have enforced the abandoned property decree.No doubt whatsoever. So if you want to move on finr .If you want to continue writing nonsense about £20 fine.Just remember that £20 then is about 170K today and never in history before had anyone received payment after losing war

All's fair in war unfortunately, Ojukwu started a war he knew who wouldn't win putting the lives of millions of his innocent people on the line, Awolowo was on the rival end and did what he thought was best to protect his own people from advancing Biafran soldiers, harsh, but I mean it's a war and horrible things happen in wars. Are you aware of the invasion of the Mid West and the attempt to capture Lagos? Did you know that Ojukwu along with his soldiers also starved the civilians?

I empathise with Biafrans, it's understandable why some would resent Awolowo for some of his actions, my issue is when Yoruba people are held more responsible than they quite frankly are, you'd think Yoruba people were even the main cause especially in comparison to the hand that other tribes had in it. First coup carried out by predominantly igbo soldiers (root cause to be honest), followed by the reprisal pogrom of Igbos carried out by Northerners etc.
