Naughty Or Nice...lol by Nobody: 3:10am On Nov 17, 2012
Hello NL parents...christmas is approaching and santa/father christmas is making their naughty or nice list for the kids grin and many kids are changing their attitude generally ...I mean who doesnt want the new WII comimg out on the 24th for christmas? grin

If the child is naughty he/she will not get a good gift from santa/father christmas and if she's nice santa will eat all her cookies up and milk on the fire place beside the christmas tree grin and fill both the child's stockings and under the tree with presents grin

I have a question for you ;

Does this story work for your kids and for how long?

Lets have fun with this .

It used to work for my kids. Then the older ones grew up and it became something like "well if you don't get it for me I'll just ask grandma for it".

It works until they find out there is no Santa.

I remmembered we told our daughter to put skim milk by the fireplace cos santa's too fat grin

It's still working for me tho... grin

OP, my kids humor me. They know that I am Santa, but we still do all the traditional things since their birth because it's fun and comforting to have traditions. My daughter (11) will still write Santa and the post office ensures she gets a letter back. She loves to make cookies although she left fruit for Santa last year because she didn't want him to be unhealthy,lol. We even leave crumbs on the plate and spill a little milk to make Santa seem like a messy eater in a hurry. Another thing we still do is make reindeer food that we sprinkle on the lawn. Also, the kids still sleep next to the tree determined to "catch Santa" and unveil him. But they can never catch us...hubby and I are too stealthy :-) We have so many more traditions that focus on Christ more than Santa. This is definitely my favorite time of year!!!

She is the youngest, and it pains me a little that soon she will outgrow all of these "childish" traditions, but I just replace those with more mature and altruistic ones. So, for the older ones we carol in the neighborhood and invite people over for hot chocolate and cookies. We play ding, dong ditch in the neighborhood too with goodies that we have made. We read a Christmas story every evening as a countdown to Christmas, ending with Twas the Night Before Christmas. I always give a Christmas book as a present along with Christmas pj's that they get Christmas Eve. I'm getting excited and Thanksgiving hasn't even passed.
What are some typical Nigerian Christmas traditions?
