Damn right. So many kids in Nigeria can act the part of those old men. I see no reason why they should be using fake talents when there are real talents. |
| Re: content deleted by Latoya(f): 5:43am On Aug 09, 2005 |
I disagree with you guys. What do you mean by that? Child actors [in place of] old actors? It doesn't make any sense. If you really want a movie to be what you want, you use people with knowledge and not kids that you have to push and tell around. They 've got the talent so therefore let them explore it. I even pity them (aki and pawpaw) because they just use them for foolish and irresponsible roles. |
| Re: content deleted by hotangel2(f): 6:21am On Aug 09, 2005 |
See...They use them for foolish roles because they have no real talents (talents to act like their "old" self). The only talent they have is the fake one (the one to act foolish roles---children roles). Infact leave the talent or no talent part alone. There are so many kids in Nigeria, that you need not push arround before they can perfect something, kids that know how to do things perfectly. These "old" men, that are acting like "young kids", aren't allowing/making space in the movie industry for young "real" talents to come up. They r just occupying a space that isn't theirs and leaving out the young, real and fresh talents--by the young ones. |

na wah o! abeg who is trying to commot food from aki and paw-paw's mouths? |
| Re: content deleted by vexxy(f): 2:41pm On Aug 17, 2005 |
I agree. Looking at most of the movies staring them, it's hard to believe they are children. They have an older, more mature feel to them rather than the innocence of a child. |
| Re: content deleted by olaide07(f): 2:39pm On Aug 20, 2005 |
No kid can be as smart as aki and pawpaw and i'm sure it's the best role they fit in |
| Re: content deleted by layi(m): 5:06pm On Aug 21, 2005 |
Imagine aki and popo doin Ok pop adverts and amidst kids. Thats an insult. Popo is 29 aki is like 3 yrs younger. Them old pass me o. Shei! |
| Re: content deleted by vexxy(f): 10:35pm On Aug 21, 2005 |
I would think it is an insult to them as well. Most actors don't like to be stuck in one category only, they like to be versatile. It is terrible that the ONLY movies they act are the ones in which they behave like children. Being type-casted is terrible. |
| Re: content deleted by DEKING3(m): 9:54am On Aug 22, 2005 |
What I'll say here is that this is their opportunity to grab what they can from the movie industry in this country b4 they are considered "faded" |
| Re: content deleted by vexxy(f): 1:30pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
That's true King. It's just some actors, well all of us really aspire for more. Being contained in a box as far as your career goes with something as versatile as acting can be frustrating. |
| Re: content deleted by Greatpeter(m): 1:35pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
Child actors and dwarfs have got there separate roles in movie industry. By the way it's a way of giving these dwarfs an opportunity to showcase what they know best and earn them a living. It's another way of making them having a sense of belonging. Why sideline them? They are part of us. |
| Re: content deleted by vexxy(f): 1:37pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
I don't think it's sidelining, I think it's wanting to see them do more than just act in child roles. I'm sure they have the ability if given the chance. But the question is: Will that chance come if we are only allowing them a specific role? |
| Re: content deleted by Greatpeter(m): 1:40pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
Well I don't think so but making them do what they they could will be great. |
| Re: content deleted by layi(m): 1:43pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
Wellsaid Vexxy Afterall we have dwarfs in the society. Not only children are small. We could have dwarf doctors. They should stop typecastin these ppl. |
| Re: content deleted by vexxy(f): 1:52pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
My point exactly. Why must we call so much attention to them being dwarfs. I'm sure they want us to see them as something other than a child like caricature. And, thanks Layi. |
| Re: content deleted by DEKING3(m): 2:19pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
Dwarfs or no dwarfs, everyone should be given an opportunity to showcase him/herself. Afterall, the directors, castings and producers are okay with them. |
| Re: content deleted by layi(m): 2:21pm On Aug 22, 2005 |
They are ok with typecasting. |
| Re: content deleted by Remedy(op): 3:48pm On Aug 30, 2005 |
I think before we start replying to a post we should at least first look at the first post where the whole message is. I do not just think it is right to start answering to a preceeding post on the chain without having an idea on the main topic. Which is factual that - Children should be given more role in the Nigeria Movie Industry instead of parading men acting as children. |
| Re: content deleted by kemmy(f): 5:10pm On Sep 07, 2005 |
Remedy, you have just hit the nail on the head. But on the other hand, in Nigeria now producers don't want to spend money "unnecesarily" by having to "spoon feed" a new talent before you are known young or old..........you go sweat and when known the best thing is to make good use of the opprtunity.............type casting or not.......(make the money before you star shine finsh), if not what will they do. And for people like them it doesn't get easier because writers don't put them in mind when they write story lines. |

Well, i don't think those guys are actually disturbing any child from entering the movies industry as long as the child has the talent to do it. As for the guys 'akin and popo' or what are they called? they are just annoying especially when trying to be funny. |
| Re: content deleted by papermoon(f): 9:20pm On Jan 23, 2006 |
This is one topic that has been bugging me for a while.... i honestly beleive that it is quite sad for two GROWN adults who just happen to be in more compact bodies to ALLOW themselves to be manipulated all in the name of acting??and making money. to say that aki and pawpaw??right...are one of the most annoying actors i have ever come across is a gross understatement. why would they for all the rice in china...allow themselves to be exploited in such ways?by beign given roles that should be reserved for boys half their age?? they are not dwarves...far from it.they are two confused adults who are now finding it very difficult to really know wether they are kids or otherwise.... nigerian actors need to be more assertive... i mean would anyone give danny de vito the part of a kid?or joe pesci?all because they are vertically challenged? something tells me the directors dare not or else someone will get their b&lls kicked... chinedu and osita...aki and pawpaw..wake up and smell the akara balls....you are just been exploited....your market will fade if these people feel you just arent cute enough anymore to fill the screens... i laugh at the silliest jokes..but i need to be honest.....their lines, etc are so lame and tired..like..been there done that burnt the effing t-shirt. something needs to be done..but unfortunately its not my duty to do it..left to me...i know what i would do........hee hee heee(very wicked laugh) |
| Re: content deleted by Free(f): 7:42pm On Jan 31, 2006 |
I have to agree they should use lil kids, instead of grown adults playin lil kids part if they can find good lil kids, they should use em' i also have to say that those two dwarf they funni paapa, they be crackin me up........ |
| Re: content deleted by Ceekay(m): 4:38pm On Feb 01, 2006 |
Lets tell ourselves d truth. NIGERIAN CHILDREN of aki and paw-paws stature, who r indeed young, wouldn't act those roles well. They'll just mess it up. U can give them a minor role, but 2 act the entire lenght of da movie?? HABA! Moreover, those guys r good. Tell urselfz da truf jare |
| Re: content deleted by Bisanke(f): 3:09am On Feb 15, 2006 |
Ah! These guys are so f**kin annoying. Man they get on my nerves & they are not funny 1 bit. But i don't think that their stopping any child from becoming a star. There just doin there thang. And when other kids come in they can do their thang aswell. |

Why do we always complain about almost everything in Nigeria? guys these are actors and what make them good/bad is the different roles they play! young, old, good, bad, ugly, name it! what about the houses and cars? why don't they use their own houses and cars? Haba! all na film trick! |
| Re: content deleted by baby4u2(f): 8:55am On Mar 29, 2006 |
@ legs that was a funny post. couldnt see how to insert the post. lol. anyway seriously u guys u can see how funny those two guys look acting like adults. how many people knew they were adults the first time you watched them? for real now, dont start praising urself for having foreknowlege. they cant act all the child roles, but yeah dey do most of them and they do try. we cant deny that children in nigeria act fake most of the time in movies. let the guys do there thing, its all for the money. remember naija no bi like hollywood wey u fit pay person 50grand per movie. the pay is not good so they gotta do what they gotta do. |
