*Education* is the process of gaining knowledge, skills, values, and understanding that help a person grow and function in society. It happens in 3 main ways: - *Formal education*: What you get in schools, universities, and training programs. Think classrooms, degrees, exams, and teachers with a curriculum. - *Informal education*: What you learn from daily life. Family, friends, media, culture, work experience, YouTube tutorials, conversations. - *Non-formal education*: Organized learning outside the formal system. Workshops, vocational training, community classes, apprenticeships. *The core purpose of education* 1. *Develop the mind* - reading, math, science, critical thinking, problem solving 2. *Build skills* - both academic and practical, like communication, coding, carpentry, leadership 3. *Shape character* - values like discipline, empathy, citizenship, curiosity 4. *Prepare for life and work* - so people can contribute, earn a living, and adapt to change At its simplest: education is not just memorizing facts. It’s learning how to learn, how to question, and how to apply what you know to new problems. There are also bigger goals depending on who you ask. Some see it as personal growth. Others see it as how societies pass culture from one generation to the next. What kind of education were you curious about? Schooling, self-learning, or how it works in a specific field?
