My friend is getting married to an igbo Man soon. His sisters always refer to her as their wife. Why  ? |

They call you wife, problem. They call you oyinbo or akata, problem. Am sure if they call you by your real name it will be a problem. Are you not their brother's intending wife? Its a normal way the ibos refer to the women married into there families (whether the woman is ibo or not),very normal. |

Because they want her to feel as a part of the family and in my tribe,its believed that if u marry a man,u marry the entire family. |

Thank you for the help. I was confused when she told me about this. She seemed to be ok with her sister in law calling her wife.  |
