Hello fellow nairalanders . I am currently a 100L student of information technology. We started programming during our second semesters and i really took it serious at first. We were being taught java. I downloaded a lot of ebooks on java including beginning Java for dummies. But as soon as we started proper the whole thing became hard for me. Couple with the fact that our lecturer was not really doing enough. I tried my best to learn during my spare time but the whole thing left me frustrated as i was no getting desired results. I later found an advert of NIIT scholarship which i applied for hoping to learn during my current second semester holidays. But when we went for the exam at PH venue i was surprised that it was no scholarship at all but a mere reduction of price. They told us that they reduced the price of Java to 180, 000 naira. I was dissapointed cos i knew my parents could not afford to pay that amount(my current school fees at Novena universuty being 372 000 niara) . We wrote the exams on java and i knew within myself i messed up. I am back home for holidays and i met a friend who is also into programming training. He advised me to choose any other lnguage to begin with as Java was very tedious and expensive to learn. So i decided to research about it and many people recommended python to me. Now i want to know wether it is good to sart with python and if python can be learnt independently with the help of e-books(unlike java) and i will also appreciate helpful links for downloading python e books and if there are ict training outlets in Nigeria offering these basic programming knowledge at little or no cost. You have made a good choice in picking python and you'd enjoy your holiday learning it.
+visit www(dot)python(dot)org and go to the download link usually at the left
+download version 2.7 depending on ur OS
+install d package after download and ur set up to use python
