Cool yarns by Bruce Eckel ,

But the problem is to stay mainstream Java has got to add the features ,

thats the price , C# is now version 3

its like the arms race , and the unfortunate thing is that it has taken the shine of the achievements in other areas where java has really improved

The strenght of java was its consistency, yeah its no longer consistent

Personally i welcome some new java features like auto boxing and use of Generics with collections but other than that i might as well be using java 1.4

( The new concurrency API is also cool)

Good article @mosco.net

U see Ghenghis , try complete reading the whole list of artikus, u will greatly be enlightened ! I dont discriminate but
the way pple are responding to this Java vs C# issue is really annoying. Recently what I notice is that
most companies combine both developement platform, they hire .Net developers and Java developers as well,
so i dont see any reason 4 the noise about the issue, everything still boils down to interest , ease of use, faster development time, and exciting user experience. I love C# and I feel comfy with Java too, smiley

Gbam ! but i would replace this "I love C# and I feel comfy with Java too," with "I love Java though"!

unfortunately this is not really the case ,
though both languages are similar the communities are quite different, the development style and mentality also makes it difficult ,
I think its better to focus on one platform(You can know the other, skin deep) and chase a job with that ,
its not really common for a company searching of .NET developer to recruit a java one and vice versa except when they're not pressed for time(rare) or the subject really knows both platforms(Hmmmm ). Anyways the interviewer is also probably a specialist on only one of the platforms ,
Bottom line if is JAva you know ,know it well
if it C# know it well,
if its PHP, abeg learn jython grin

Those that achieve nothing are those that have no focus to have deeply searched the technology that surrounds a particular technology, but moving about to so many and know nothing,,
According to my motto: Jack of all trades is not master of some and idea of all.

I submit,;;;;;;;
all that C# can do java can not do,
all that Java can do C# can not do,

try to stay focus and know all the features possible with your interest and have idea of others
it is always good to stay focus,,  why Php is spelled out of discussion not all that php can do that all these other technologies can do.

I remain PHP developer irrespective of all the noising noises, one day the infant of all shall become the BIGGEST, why ? just like how linux outrun Windows and others so also PHP would do remain focus.
A specialist in one knows almost 100% of the features with the technology but a come-and-go knows 30% and complain about, what about other 70%, lets stop comparing stay focus, your C# job can not just be hijacked by Java people, if you are a specialist, likewise for java people too.

PHP job can not just be handled completely by others because the way we do our own things to work different from others.                                           LORD LANGUAGE (Futarian)

I hate all this arguements about which is better and which is not,

Why? my motto is simple, get the job done, get paid, everyone is happy

I am a fan of MySQL but if a client says Oracle why not as long as he is paying for it,

I have used at least most programming languages(although I stick with java), but the truth is if pascal will do the job well in lesser time why not?

A beg leave all these stories and go start earning some money,

Java And Nigerian Developers, dont miss out

I will not comment about the pros and cons of both languages. I haven't used C# but my girlfriend has and she makes a lot of noise about it.

I want us to start looking away from what this language can do and what it can't do debate. I want us to look at the new possibilities that both languages offer us.

The JVM is going to be around for a long long time, amazing languages are been created that runs on the JVM. These languages offer features, strengths and flexibility that both Java or C# don't offer us. Look at

www.scala-lang.org - Scala, a new functional and OOP language
http://clojure.sourceforge.net/ - You will love this if you use LISP

Personally, I am a python and C guy but like javarules said "What does it matter?", at the end of the day, the client want a working software.
