while that of bit is b.
MBps isnt Mbps
a bit(binary digit) is either 1 or 0
but a byte is a set of 8 bits e.g 1 byte=01101010

this implies that 1 byte = 8 bits
[size=14pt]so when you browse at 1Mbps(megabit/s),you are actually browsing at 0.125MBps(megabyte/s)[/size][/color]

depends on what you're downloading eg:

downloading 1gb at 1Mbps would take you ~3hrs

but downloading 1gb at 1MBps would only take ~20mins

A bit is a single numeric value, either '1' or '0', that encodes a single unit of digital information. A byte is a sequence of bits; usually eight bits equal one byte.

and a byte can be in 2^8 (256) forms.
