Versioning has nothing to do with language. I am a java programmer and I use git. I started with mercurial before moving to git. I can't remember what mercurial looks like, but git has one very important folder in your root folder called .git and that's all.

Big No! It may have anything to do with any lang; but the was u implement it in different languages will definitely be different;
