Let God's Word Dwell In You Richly
Colossians 3:16; John 15:7
"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in
all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to
the Lord."Col. 3:16 God wants our lives to be
filled with His Word. He wants everything
we do to stem from His Word. This can only
be possible when our hearts are filled and
saturated with the Word. The heart of man
is the centre of his being from which every
thought and action emanates
(Matt.12:34-35). Whatever fills your heart
will find expression in your thoughts and
your actions. The actions you take end up
shaping the course of your life. But it all
begins from the heart, this is why Proverbs
4:23 says to "Keep thy heart with all
diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
We have to watch what we allow have
access to our hearts, this is why we are
admonished to let the Word of Christ dwell
in us richly. When God's Word dwells in us
richly then our thoughts and actions will
naturally be in line with His Word. Success is
the result of living by God's Word. Notice
that the Word is to dwell in us richly, not
sparsely. This means that the Word is to
dwell in us abundantly. How do you fill your
heart with God's Word? By doing what God
said to Joshua in Joshua 1:8, speaking the
Word to yourself constantly. With your
tongue you can write God's Word on your
heart. When God's Word fills your heart,
acting on it will be the most natural thing to
do. Beloved, God's Word ought to be your
abundant treasure. You ought to be
abundantly rich in God's Word so much that
there will be an overflow from you unto
others around you. You see, you can be so
rich in God's Word that you become a
teacher of the Word, admonishing and
encouraging the brethren. Let the Word of
Christ dwell in you richly.
