"take" is different from "take away" in english language
besides, i ve never heard that "take" means "take away" in maths. Please another person should confirm this with a prove.

Take 1000 and add 40 to it. could also be translated to "take 1000 oranges and add another 40 oranges to it."

that a question a existed for a lifetime doesn't make it correct until it is correct. no matter who have seen it, it is who shows interest that points an error.
