You need a a 4-port Switch and and a-8/16port hub. The hub is a repeater means it has only one collision domain while every port on a switch has its own collision domain .i.e the computers on the network can send and receive packets at the same time without an interference from other systems . but with HUB,it means that when there are many users on the network with respect to time there will always be JAMS . But with the help of a switch you will be able to break the network into smaller units there by reducing the jams on the network.
Now you need to network the entire system so that they will be able to communicate with one another in the network.
To do this you need the following:
1. a switch/hub.
2. a workstation with high system configuration(at least 2Gb Ram, 60-320Gb HDD, 2.3-3.0GHz processor)
3. RJ45 network cable.
4. usb Modem for the internet connection.
5. RJ45 cutter.
BTW this is purely Networking and the process is not what can be fully detailed here.
