Hello all,

I have a Mitsubishi Montero 2001. I changed the battery and lost access to the car stereo.

MY VIN is JA4MW31R71J020024 and stereo serial number is 99F56286.

Please, assist with the code.

The code would usually be included the the handbook for the radio which should be one of the manuals in the Owner's Manual bookthat you hopefully for from the dealer that sold you the car. Otherwise radio code retrieval cost from $50 up. There are websites online that can do that for you. Conduct a search.

You might also try the Mitsubishi dealers here in Lagos and see if they can help

Same thing happened to me when I bought my Honda IV TECH. I never even had the code. I took it to those electricians that repair car radio. They reprogrammed it to use 00000 as code. It cost me N2000.

kadman can u please tell me where the car stereo technician shop is located cause my cousin has got a 2004 honda accord but its cd player doesnt work it always displays CD ERR on the screen i will really appreciate it, and for mike you can check the side of your glove box when its opened there should be some numbers by side its usually four or five digits

Shortman tell your cousin to also get the 5 digits code from the glove box and key in this code into the cd player, the CD ERR should disappear.

No,that's NOT correct. When it's needs the code it simply writes CODE. CD ERR is displayed when the stereo cannot play the CD because of faulty lens. It also happened to my car. I could fix it but decided to buy a CD loader at the back.

The technician is based in Ebute Metta,somewhere popularly known as Honda Village. My mechanic introduced me to him. I don't remember his shop. Tell your cousin to ask his Mech for a good technician. Or buy a 6 changer CD loader. It's about N15,000 for a good one.
