You saw a laptop for 97k. You didnt have the cash, so you borrowed 50k from your Dad and 50k from your Mom making a total of 100k. You bought the laptop and had 3k change with you, so you gave your Dad 1k and your Mom1k and kept 1k for yourself. Now you owe your Mom 49k and your Dad 49k. 49k+49k=98k+ your 1k =99k. Where is the missing 1k? |

this must be the tenth thread about this riddle on NL.......... there is no missing 1K if you look at it the right way: you got 50K from each parent, you bought the laptop and had 3K change, if you give back 1k to each your parents then you now owed them 49k+49k (which is 97k for the laptop + the 1k that you kept for yourself) = 98K not 97K......... the 1K you kept should be added to what you owe, not subtracted from it....duh! 1 Like |
