In a rather stunning development, NFF president Amaju Pinnick has revealed that Stephen Keshi will continue as Nigeria coach.

Pinnick also confirmed the new make-up of the NFF’s technical department.

The 44-year-old honcho said: “We have Shuaibu Amodu as the technical director, he was boss to Keshi. Keshi is the head coach, he has won everything and he is still going to work. ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha is the head of the technical study group and Felix Anyansi-Agwu, one of the most successful club administrators in the country today, is the head of the technical committee and with these people I don’t think you can go wrong.”

This announcement comes on the heels of the NFF boss absolving Keshi of any blame regarding Nigeria’s AFCON qualification failure. Pinnick, instead criticized the Super Eagles for lacking the ‘right attitude’ to clinch the Nations Cup ticket at the time.

The whole episode reeks of astonishment though, as the Pinnick-led NFF board had earlier sacked Keshi, replacing him with Amodu on an interim basis, and announcing that an ‘expatriate’ foreign coach would be appointed.
