I Didn't Know It Would Bleach My Newborn's Skin by margaree(op): 11:50pm On Dec 22, 2014
Hello nairalanders.
I'm new here and I actually joined because of the challenge I have with my son's skin...my son has CMA- cow milk allergy- which caused him to develop a rash that thickened his skin right from the 2nd day of his birth. I didn't know it was CMA so I changed from Johnsons to Aveeno. It improved but after a while, it went back to the way it was and became even worse and very dry. I took him to the hospital and the doctors gave me ketacanozole cream which I used but it only cleared his face. I did a research on the internet and came up with baby tribotan. The baby tribotan cleared up the rash but it left his skin very dry, wrinkly and also multicolored- he's dark but now some areas like his elbow, knees, back, ankle area down to his toes are darker.
Please what can I do to make my baby's skin whole again?
Thanks very much for your help.
PS: I stopped every form of milk so rash is no longer the problem.

You got to this point because you made yourself a " google doctor" yet you have not learnt any lesson it seems. You want us strangers, who have not seen your baby to " internet doctor" your baby.

Madam, if you can't trust your ped and stick to his/ her prescriptions, ask him questions when u are confused then you have a long way to go on the motherhood sojourn.

You can start by leaving his skin alone. He's a baby, not a beauty contestant. He will heal.

Why aren't you breastfeeding your baby? Wouldnt that have saved you all this stress?

Correct me if i am wrong but Johnson's and Aveeno are baby skin care products aren't they? What have they got to do with the CMA?

Use natural products like shea butter and coconut oil.

Switch to all natural products. I use black soap to bath my daughter and she's just 3 months and for cream, I mixed ori, olive oil and coconut oil and that's what we all use. It leaves our skin smooth.

Thanks every one for your contributions whether it is to curse me or to offer helpful advice, I really appreciate.
..to answer some of the questions asked, I am doing exclusive breastfeeding and it was the milk that I was taking that he reacted to but I have stopped taking milk in all its different form. And about the use of natural products, I am now using a mixture of Shea butter, olive oil, Johnsons baby Vaseline, Aveeno baby lotion and sebamed baby cream on his skin.

Why don't you take his back to the Pedhuh

Johnsons baby vaseline + Aveeno baby lotion + sebamed baby cream is too much for an adult talkless of a baby! Do you mix them all up or rotate their use or what?

Take him to the hospital

I hope you are not looking for magical results sha

Why are you mixing so many things on one baby? You remind me of those traders who would decieve girls then that they are specialists in " mixing" cream and then leave girls with half burnt faces.

Madam go and see your doctor

Re: I Didn't Know It Would Bleach My Newborn's Skin by Chidoks(f): 2:25pm On Mar 04, 2016
Use Shea butter on that spot or blue seal Vaseline. Regular use of the creams you mentioned is capable of destroying useful bacteria on the skin and that might be the case. Keep the surface oiled and don't use disinfectant on a daily basis. Good luck

I used same mixtures for my child some time ago.but I don't use Johnson products for ma kid,cos I dislike all their stuffs.av used aveeno, very good, and sebamed baby has always been there all the way even till now.I use it on ma child and its superb specifically the baby cream and the tablet soap does a wonderful job for deep cleansing the skin and its very good for rashes...this tablet soap can help bring back ur baby's natural colour, trust me.it doesn't foam but its like milk...all the best my friend....OK..Chou chou....

This must be your first child. Don't worry, it's a learning process but me thinks you are using so many things. Just stick to one ie Shea butter, that oil works wonders
