A seasoned developer is required to help with the development of a project that is currently ongoing. We are looking for an individual that is not only just a coder; we are looking for someone who is keen to develop a medium to long term trustworthy relationship with us, a UK-based startup web development agency with roots in Nigeria. We believe in Nation building regardless of where we are in this world.
As a Nigerian proverb goes; "You cannot beat your chest with one finger. You need them all".

So, to the required technical requirements:

- Three or more years development with PHP5.
- Understanding of OOP and applicable design patterns.
- Have worked with one or more of the following frameworks; Laravel, Zend, CodeIgniter.
- Comfortable writing raw SQL queries and appreciates basic optimisation techniques.
- An understanding of Database transaction lifecycles.
- Familiarity with ORM.
- Apply security principles and best practices.
- Unit testing with PHPUnit. High level of code coverage will be expected.
- Git for source code management. You will preferably have an existing Github account.
- Code documentation.
- Basic *nix command-line skill.


Nice to haves but not essential

---

- Previous experience with developing RESTful API Web Services (JSON/XML).
- Can write and manage complex SQL queries using, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
- Agile methodology and development practices.
- AWS cloud integration and management


A budget of three months has been set aside for this work. The developer will be expected to work full-time (7.5hrs per day, 5 days a week) for the contract period. Main form of communications will be Skype and email.
The successful candidate will be expected to start mid-to-late January 2015.
