First of all technically the US have no offical diplomatic relations with Taiwan, the US as many other countries have adopted the one China policy making the PRC the only legitimate government.,how will the USA signed a defence Treaty with a Taiwan nation, when the same US recognises the communist government of the peoples Republic of China as the only one government in both China and Taiwan, the only thing the US can do which it has done well is enabling the Taiwanese making sure they possess the technology and tools it requires to defend itself.

From a medical perspective sex has a broad classification ;
Sex can be - genetic sex
- phenotypical/biological sex
- social sex

All these has their different components and causes. The case of this Algeria woman is what is referred to as dysfunctional sexual differentiation DSD.
What's DSD? In the embryonic form when we are conceived, there's no difference between a man and a woman.
The only distinguishable factor is our chromosomes for males XY females XX.
As the embryo grows it remain undifferentiated. Around some 6wks + the Y chromosomes kicks in. Without the Y chromesome in the XY we all (male or female) are all program to be females. But with the Y chromosome some hormones are released which differentiate the gonads to form rudimentary male structures. Instead of ovaries, we have testes, labia majora to scrotum, clitoris to penis, vas deferense and others. Also MIS a substance secreted prevent the formation of uterus, fallopian tube and upper vagina. With increase androgens the penis grows, testes descend into scrotal sac, scrotum fuses same with penis fusing and forming a tube.

Now here's the problem, errors do happens. Like for example what if there's abnormality in the Y chromosome ( an SRY genes)? They're will be failure to different to male type Instruments.
What if there's MIS absence?, then you have an hermaphrodite (an external male Instruments but with rudiment uterus and fallopian tube)
What if there's little or no hormones? Then you'll have an ambiguous Instruments where you can't tell if it's a penis or vagina you're looking at.
It can be problem with hormones receptors.
Etc. All these contributes to DSD.



This case is a case of pseudohermaphrodism.
Where there's problem of DSD as a result she developed fully as a female. In that condition she'll be raised as a female (biological sex even though chromosomal sex is male). She'll also be infertile, and she is less subpar, compare to other males, which mean she can't complete compete in male sport. She'll have a complete female secondary sexual differentiation.
