This post is going to reveal something many of you dont know about true caller, and dont be shocked when you find out.. The truecaller id app which helps give information about the name of the person using a line has a great flaw and a deceptive way of gathering people's information.. Wanna know what this is, read along... I tried my hands on truecaller id in may and upon registration i used a fake name " John Doe" because i was wondering why it would need my full name for the services i needed it for, it was meant to be an app to help spy on numbers not gather Ids... Not too long after, people with the truecaller app that called me said my name showed as John Doe and even people that tried snooping on my number called me back saying " i know who you are mr John Doe"... that's true. I had the app last year. I registered as magnifico. but was denied access because it wasn't my real name. so I added my surname to make it look like a full name and was granted access but when I uninstalled the app my opera mini opened automatically and loaded their site. there they ask "hello xxxxxxx xxxxxx" (my real name with which I named my device) let us know why u uninstalled our app. I was shocked they stole and stored my real identity all the while and I tot I was smart! 5 Likes |

Is this not common sense When u register an email addy on Gmail with the name 'John Doe', do u expect to see 'James Pepper' when u send a mail from that email addy? It's simple logic my friend. 11 Likes |

True caller id uses mostly ur Facebook account to know ur real I'd if u use the dat number on ur Facebook then be rest assured true caller id would get u 5 Likes |

just received a call not quite long from an unknown no...note:not private number,and true caller gave me the name;saheed cse, am suspecting someone safe the name as saheed cse thinking true caller is able to access user phonebook and update it on there data base incase someone call that have his or her name stored on a phone having an account with true caller,meaning if you safe a name as goat.... an the no contact another person who is a register user of tru caller you get the name goat.... p r i v a c y |

We all know how it works... Only mugus no know... It collects info from ur address book n save on their system. Its user profiling technique... Explicitly by registering and implicitly by getting from other people. Rank d data to know d correct name associated with that number.... U registered john doe and if u have like 20 reasonable friends that saved ur name as exactly who u are, they will edit it... Its artificial intelligence. 3 Likes 1 Share |

My advice to people, before installing any app, read the app permissions. True caller app has permission to get info from your phone book. So it actually steals ur address or phone book contains the details. It does this for every device it's installed on. You can edit or remove the permission with APK Permission Remover app. |

one thing abt thru caller is, it infringe on ur privacy and dat of others. By installing dat software, u give them access to ur store ur name and number and also those in ur phonebook. Funniest thing, if someone using truecaller stored ur name with 'mumu', u may appear as 'mumu' to other truecaller using searching with ur no. 1 Like |

cokerfemi: That's the exact truth, I noticed that ages ago... Truecaller gathers information by first getting the user to register a name. So if u use a fake name, that's what pple using it would see when u call them. I use Hello which is newer and far more reliable... It's developed by Facebook and it tags anonymous numbers to their Facebook names and profiles, if the number isn't registered on any Facebook profile, then it tags it with a whatsapp name and profile. So what are d odds of a number not being registered on facebook and whatsapp?... almost all d numbers I use have a whatsapp account, even if not entered on my Facebook profile. 1 Like |

cokerfemi:from my own experience the apps uses emails nd facebook database, there was a time I called someone nd he got my real name I was like wao how did you nd she told me it's an app so I used my other line to call her nd she said hello HOT henry.....that was the name I used in registering my other facebook account and the email I used for it.........that's the only registration I ever used the sim on........it wasn't even a registered sim then,,..................so my submission is your info is gotten from some sites you registered with the number in their database.....buy a new sim today nd don't use for any registration then call someone with tru id nd see if he/she will still get ur Identity I just did now nd the app became DUMB |

cokerfemi: truecaller gathered their Information on line, if your number has in anyway find it way to the internet, your information is likely to be picked up by truecaller, and for what you said, do you think truecaller know your real name ? they only know what you register your line with if you download the truecaller app and you register your line with, the name you use to register on true caller will now become official, but if you haven't registered with them officially and your number is on the internet, maybe Facebook or other social platform; truecaller is likely to pickup your real identity |

What does it mean if it shows private, business on truecaller? Does it mean it is a business line or the person is not registered on truecaller or a scammer? |

Truecaller that shows Innobarca as my real name, Is that a site to be trusted? Innobarca is my Nairaland profile name.,Not my real name. I just registered on truecaller to change it because that's not my name. It just picks your profile name from some sites you registered,or display any name you registered on Truecaller app. I do not think the site is exactly what people think it is. |
