I've never been a fan of inspirational
books, i think they usually discount
the unique situation everyone is in
and give advice that is inapplicable in
some cultures and situations. But
hell, i'm unemployed and bored so i
picked up 48 laws of power after like
a million recommendations.
First i have to say i was impressed at
the amount of history the author
must have studied before writing the
book, there were lots of interesting
ancient history and folklore that
made a me smile.
At the end of the book i felt short-
changed. The writer appeared so
desperate to write something leftist in
view that he ignored common sense
and basic human decency and
morality. How do you advice people
to be so ruthless in their dealings, be
unforgiving, bring others down on
your way up and reward your enemies
while suppressing your friends. This
leads me to something I've been
thinking. We only have more or less
than a 100 years to live, whats the
reward for suppressing others?, its
not like there is an examination at the
end of life where the "strong" pass on
into afterlife college. i really do not
understand the need to be
remembered, the need for the
continuation of your bloodline e.t.c. If
everyone could just be satisfied with
"enough to get by" i think the world
would be a happier place.
Speaking of which, communism vs
capitalism. The human brain has a
poor sense of equality and fairness,
its almost impossible to fairly
distribute resources equally, but if
there was a way to do that then it is
my personal opinion that
communism is a better system of
government.
In the end, this is earth not Utopia so
non of this matters. |
