Hi,

I'm interested in finding out more about Nigerian (especially Yoruba) attitudes between the different generations.I know that it is important to respect your elders.

I'm more interested in the relationship between parents and their older children, say those over 18, as the little I've seen seems very 'different' to me.

It seems to me as though Nigerians have very close ties and friendships with other family members of their own generation but there is a barrier between the different generations. What do you think? Would you sit and chat and joke with a family member of another generation (older or younger) ? Would you socialise with a family member of a different generation?
