To all maths Guru in the house, I just need a quick brush up on some selected topics in maths, been a while since I've had anything to do with it. Actually I never liked maths while in school, but now I need quick brush up badly!

tan x cos x = sin x     cos x
                  ------ *              = sin x
                  cos x

Girl, why are you having the problems you are having? Is it because you have no interest in the subject or because you feel you're not good at mathematics? If it's the latter then remember that practice makes perfect. If you work on it you can improve.

1. If f(x) = x4-x+2, then f(-x)=

A) x4-x
B) x4+x
C) x4-x+2
D) x4+x+2

Basically, the problem reads: A function of x is x raised to the power of 4, minus x, plus 2.
Then you are asked to find function of -x

Meaning, where you see x, replace it with "-x"

You should get something like

f(-x) = (-x)⁴ - (-x) + 2

Simplying further,

(-x) raised to the power of 4 = x⁴
- (-x) = x because - * - = +



Therefore
f(-x) = x⁴ + x + 2
answer is D

It's a lot more difficult typing out the solutions on the internet but they are simple as you've said.  
If you dust up your old math books these problems should be relatively easy for you.

I don't know if the question is complete but

the ratio of 7:4 . The ratio of 7/4 expressed as a percentage is

7/4 * 100

which is 175%


This makes sense, right? Since 7 is almost twice as large as 4.

rewrite 4 1/5 as 21/5 . . . 21/5  because you convert from mixed fraction to improper.  (5 * 4 + 1)/ 5
rewrite 6 as 6/1

it becomes

21/5 * 3/4 * 6/1

now multiply the top together.

21*3 * 6 = 378

then do the same with the bottom
5 * 4*1 = 20

your answer is 378/20

but wait a minute.  from the options given, it looks like you have to rewrite that as some sort of mixed fraction.
simple enough

first reduce the answer above.
2 goes into 378, you end up with 189
2 goes into 20, you end up with 10

your reduced answer is now 189/10

which can be rewritten in form of a mixed fraction as  ughhhh

answer: 18 9/10
