DebohBaron: I'm a corper in calabar and I won't be around for the Carnival in December, I'll be going back to lagos.
So I won't mind to rent out my self contain apartment in caalabar(2mins walk from the main carnival location at Marian).
It has a Gen and kitchen(there's food ) and constant Water!!
Its 50K/week!!!!!!

P.S. - All the Hotels are fully booked already, u can confirm.

After u must av bn accepted . Discuss it with ur head .. But its compulsory u r given some time off.... To go back home .. Refreshen up and be right back..

ujchief: @gabialonso, I disagree with some of the points you raised above;

I've nver experienced any delay in my federal allowee, I get paid like anyother corper elsewhere.

Imo state has high educational tolerance as 97% of teens wants to go to school, so education is not as you described above. Coupled with the fact that Rochas pays stipends to the students, so they love education.

Inasmuch as owerri is expensive, there are great places to be posted at owerri; Federal university of technology, owerri, federal polytechnic, nekede, imo state university, Alvan ikoku college of eduation and lots more.

Acomodation is the only undoing of owerri and its environs.

I still wonder what a corper needs hotel accomodation for where there are NCCF family house and most local governments has corpers lodge.

However, you are on point about the state allowance. Imo state government does not pay corpers posted to its public secondary schools, so its just you and your federal allowee.

However, those posted to state Ministries as well as local govt councils are paid an average of N5,000 per month.

Wow... I rem when i used to always refresh the "batch C" last year thread...... Pple like UJ Chief were quite helpful 2 me...
Well.... UJ said d same tins abt "Imo umudi camp" b4 i went but i can say..... Umudi camp is actually 1 of d . Stressfree and kool camps in d country.....

There is about 100 entrances and exits .... U dnt need 2 collect a permit 2 exit atimes.. Jst wear mufti and nt ur normal white and jst pass 1 of dem... Bt cme bk b4 4pm.... Hhahhehhehe.... But if u aren't a tough cookie like me..... Betta leave dt option out........

I had a blast in camp..... Boy o boy... If i had a chance . I would do it all over....... I joined the "OBS - orientation broadcasting service" and ..... Mine o mine.. I enjoyed everytin.. As almst all the programmes on parade went thru .... Me.. Tammy and Mr Macho...... Ma homies... We were 1 big family......... Yeeaaaa.....

Well... The only issue i didn't like.. Was ..... A pest disturbance called "skirt n blouse" so please please and please BE CAREFUL as.... The insect doesn't bite but .. Its when u try u kill it that it pours a very LETHAL juice dt can leave a permanent scar on ur face..... Omo mEeenn. See pretty ladies . All being "defaced" by d insect. No be child's play o...

ujchief: hahahaha If batch B could survive that camp, u too can survive. Honestly, it was terrible. They called the male hostel 'Abuja' hostel. Thats an irony b'cos the hostel looks more like an abandoned refugee camp. The lectures were the most boring part. The tenth doesnt take much corp members, so u've got to sit out on the sun for hours listening to one guy giving a skills acquisition lecture on how to produce perfume, bleach, polish, nonscence!

ujchief: better facilities ke? The only thing hes gona get is a better weather, it was raining in july while i was at camp. The camp was a mess, coupled with the rains. We had to edit the phrase of NYSC anthem that said 'under the sun and in the rain' to 'under the sun NOT in the rain'
worst stil, the guvnor, Rochas doesnt pay corp members serving at public schools.
So if his ppa is a govt school, hes left wit just N19,800 per month! Pathetic!

ujchief: i dont believe any camp could be as bad as Imo state orientation camp! The only thing positive about that camp was the military men, who were corper-friendly. The camp is a total disaster! The hostels are uncomfortable (1200 guys sharing just 4 toilets), no auditorium for lectures (they provided a tenth that cant sit more than 150 persons), no recreational sports activities (just volleybal & footbal), did i mention the hostel? It was an eye-sore! Prisoners could boast of better accomodation! The camp is not fenced, so villagers stroll in and out of the camp, most times to steal our stuffs when we're out for parade. Mtn network was terible, especially for Gprs and BB (this is the case for most camps, so u might wanna get an extra sim). There was no borehole, so they contracted a tanker that supplies water twice a day, in between it, no water at all. The food at mami was a remix of the food at the general camp kitchen, so u just wonder why u're paying for the trash when u could as well manage the kitchen food.
I cant believe i spent 3wks of my life there. It was a horible place to be. A fellow nairalander started a thread on the state of imo camp, i thut i was the only one that noticed.
