Oya let's switch to Yuan till it becomes 1 Yuan = 300 naira, we will find another country to swap with again!!!
Nigerians don't wana suffer but they want to be exporting!!
How is that possible?? actually, that export thing is a good idea but what can we manufacture in mass and export? We hardly export anything to other African countries let alone the world. |

Dollar has been d world standard currency b4 now, only for Nigeria to make a radical turn on dollar to embrace Chinese Yuan. Of course, China who want to make their currency world standard will readily consent to this. But i fore see grave danger economic wise for any country that folows suit like our dear Naija. We were operating our business in a popular mall,in which we had an agreement to be sharing all monies made at the end of business day in 50/50 formula. We were running the business there for about 5 years, just last week the manager told me that they enjoyed our business relationship with them over the years that they want to embark on some restructuring in other words they will have to terminate our contract with them. We have vacated the place only for us to find out that the mall has started doing what we were doing, which was our brain child. Is it possible to take any legal action against them? Welcome to Nigeria, a country of dog eat dog. |

bigtt76: Though it will ease the over dependence on the dollar as the mode of import payments from China where most of our imports come from, it doesn't immediately translate to a stronger Naira. Rather it will depelete our forex reserve since we have to part with some dollars to get the seed Yuan funds to stock the banks. China would not take Naira in direct exchange to Yuan. Except we have enough exports to China to foot the exchange which we don't currently have or the Chinese give us the proposed funding in Yuan but then it limits our spending to China nope... it's naira to yuan, which is why it will be possible to weaken the dollar a bit and subsequently crash it. |

Now I am hearing about southern Nigeria, please who revived it and when was it revived. The same southern Nigeria where an oba vowed to drown his supposed fellow southerners for voting a particular party.
Other southerners should be wise My brother, that is why I say we are fools in this part of the country and that is our greatest undoing. |

layzie: I begin to wonder why a serious business man can't keep his cattle in a ranch and provide grasses for them, isn't this even cheaper?
Secondly, I wonder why government should also provide land in all states of the country free of charge for a business man to feed his cattle.
Is cattle rearing not a business? Are they not supposed to have operating costs? Shouldn't I for instance be able to supply them with grasses, if they can't get it for themselves?
Does the cattle belong to govt? Do these people even pay tax? Will govt also provide free land for me in all states if I decide to rear whatever or trade in whatever? Will I have free land in the North if I decide to plant millets in large scale?
Why can't we simply make laws stipulating the right methods of of raising animals, which is ranching in this case. Why do we keep complicating our lives when there are simple solutions.
And we have lawmakers doing siddon dey look. Smh. Can someone pls share the sahara link with their phone numbers, we need to begin to talk to these people. At least, let's know the reason why they think this crude way is better. Lol... Southerners and their way of handling things in this country has given the North wings to fly. Pidggin: Ask Amaechi why he cancelled the University of technology in ND? which was a GEJ project, our evil politicians are to blame for this That is not an excuse please. We have FUTO, FUTA.... these are just examples of UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY littered across the country. Why build another instead equipping existing ones world class standard? It does not end there. When highly gifted students build something, give them an avenue to showcase the skills and then call in someone from say China and discuss better way to help commercials the product into well built finish product with the original creator being in the lead to take his creation to the next level with added knowledge from the Chinese. That way, gradually, we will transfer the technology to Nigeria and dominate Africa. This is the secret behind China's growth and other Asian tigers. All we do is just send people to go do Msc or Phd and then come back to do what? NOTHING but to take up jobs and continue getting paid. In the last 16 years of our democratic rule, among all those sponsored on foreign scholarships, how many has added to the growth of Nigeria technology-wise? How many is aimed at technology transfer? I know some UNILAG student who built HOVERCRAFT from scratch and it was working superbly. Where are they today? In my school, a guy built a device that you can use to lock your car even if it is stolen and taken to Ghana... It will lock it. Where is he today? He was invited for an exhibition and because he couldn't afford flight and hotel bills, he couldn't go. Where is today.? Last I saw of him was in a Church, clapping away his destiny. These are the kind of people that can move this country forward, not those that have been sponsored on numerous scholarships with nothing to show for it for over 16 years now. Do we have any leader who is thinking in this direction in the current or past tenure? NO! until we embrace building our OWN technology hub in this country, we will continue to be at the mercy of developed countries, as it is currently evident at the rate of even BUHARI travels loll GIANT of AFRICANT should be our name and not giant of africa. |

Politics › Re: Buhari’s Irritable ‘16 Years Of Waste’ Mantra by 2sexyus: 3:48pm On Apr 13, 2016 |
otil1: When they say 16 years of waste, I believe they pray that ALL Nigerians become 16years old and unable to remember life prior to 1999.
Can APC prove to Nigerians that pre-1999 Nigeria is better than Nigeria at May 29th, 2015? Never!
Given, there have been lost opportunities that should have been tapped. No doubt about that.
But the key issue now is that given the rate of performance of APC-led administration, now is the time to talk about waste.
Or is it not clear to all and sundry that Nigeria has lost the first critical 1year of a new administration?
-Roads paved -zero -Rails added -zero -New Power generating capacity -zero -Running existing power installation -negative -Jobs -negative (job losses) -Naira exchange rate - lowest ever -Inflation rate - highest ever
Meanwhile, the 16 years they like to refer to are the 16 years that ushered in:
-GSM, an empowerment too in the hand of every Nigerian -ATM, Nigerians now part of global financial system with Visa and Mastercard usable globally (until Buhari came to power) -Bank consolidation (bye bye to failed bank syndrom) -Bank recapitalisation, making our financial institutions acceptable all over the globe -Credible elections (now a worsening indices) -Self sufficiency in Cement -Self sufficiency in Rice -self sufficiency in Cassava -Self sufficiency in Poultry; all thanks to food security programmes -IPP that grew our power generating capcity to over 10,000MW. 1st ever. -Paved road -35,000km by GEJ alone -Min wage from below N4,000 to N18,000 -new rail projects -new airport terminals -New international airports (Enugu, Akwa Ibom) -Numerous new domestic airports (Asaba,Ilorin, etc.) -more -and more
A beg, Nigeria moved forward last 16 years. As much as I agree with you, by now we should at least be technologically grown to make some machines, tools, electronics right here in the country but power supply has been at a dismal low ebb ever since Nigeria was born and thus, stunting the growth of that sector. Science and technology is the way forward in this country but no government, whether past or present, is giving that a chance. |
