Sorry for posting on this thread as I don't know where to post it. Here's is the problem, I have a friend that's on student visa but her student visa expired in february although she registered with a new college for her course and the college told her to start the new course in May which she already started. The reason why she hasn't applied for her visa renewal is because the college she enrolled to is waiting for their licence from the UK BORDERS, and without the licence, the college can't issue a visa letter for this my friend. Now it's july and when she called the immigration people to explain her situation, she was told that she needs to go back to nigeria and re-apply for entry clearance as she hasn't got any valid stay in the UK any longer. Now here is my question, if she goes bck home to nigeria to re-apply for entry clearance at the british embassy in nigeria, what are the chances she will be given/granted a visa or will dey reject her at the bristish embassy in nigeria because she has overstayed in the UK? She's worried and she asked me for advice but i don't really knw much bout all dis immigration thing also and dat's y i decided to post it on to nairaland for advice 4rm all u potential nairalanders, lol, |

Where in the UK is your friend; which college did your friend attend and which college is she starting in July? She might be able to get her visa renewed without going back to Nigeria but it might take heavy pressure etc. send me a mail to justgoodnairaland@hotmail.co.uk |

this situation is a complex one, to the best of my knowledge once u over stay a day after your visa expires you have breached the laws of the land and could be held accountable by not issuing her a visa when next u apply, the mistake she made was that she would have applied for extension in the UK before the visa expired. But as it is now her chances of getting another visa is very slim because they are going to be aware she was here illegally. So my advice is for her go back, first, if shes still in uk, apply from naija then pray hard theres nothing God cannot do!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |

@ Tony Tone, well she first tried to switch to TIER 2 in february before her visa expired but as we knw, uk borders can take 1 -2 months b4 responding, so d application was rejected due to insuffiecient points for the point based and she got d reply 4rm d uk borders in march which means d visa has already expired by d time she got d reply back 4rm uk borders, den i told her d best bet is 4 her to go bck on d student visa which is now TIER 4, but because she was waitin 4 d college's licence also(still waitin) coz d college can't issue visa letter unless dey ave their own licence, so because it was takin so long, she den called d uk borders few days ago n dey told her dat d best thing for her to do is to go bck 2 nigeria n re-apply der, but she's worried dat dey won't renew her visa for her wen she goes bck 2 9ja, |
