Macbook Airs come with on-board RAM (as written in the description), which means the RAM modules are soldered to the the logic board (or motherboard, as some call it) . . You can't upgrade it unless you buy a new logic board with an 8GB module.

But Macbook Pros have detachable RAM modules, unlike the air, that is why they are heavier and bigger
while the Airs are slimmer and lighter !!!!
