An amazing deal came my way today for the new PS4 Slim with a discount of 30% so decided to pick one up following my acceptance to a few renowned gaming groups based in Nigeria.

What do we know about the New PS4 slim

Main Processor: Single-chip custom processor
CPU: x86-64 AMD "Jaguar", 8 cores
GPU: 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon based graphics engine
Memory: GDDR5 8GB
Storage size: 500GB, 1TB (for Japan only at present)
External dimensions: Approximately 265 × 39 × 288mm
Mass: Approximately 2.1kg
BD/ DVD drive (read only): BD × 6 CAV, DVD × 8 CAV
Input/ Output: Super-Speed USB (USB 3.1 Gen1) port × 2, AUX port × 1
Networking: Ethernet(10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T)×, IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac wi-fi, Bluetooth v4.0
Power: AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz
Power consumption: Max. 165W
Operating Temperature: 5-degrees C – 35-degrees C
AV output: HDMI out port (HDR output supported)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The specs above are identical to the 'phat' PS4 apart from the power consumption. Sony claims it will consume a maximum of 165W compared to 250W of the 'phat' PS4. It also looses the optical output found on the phat PS4 which I'm not to pleased about.

It looks very well built and on playing Assassins Creed: Syndicate for around 30mins it ran quietly. I don't see this as a concern for many as with game volume up on monitor or headset, it'll be inaudible if it were noisy.

The New PS4 slim controller doesn't have a glossy finish like the old ones and now has a strip of lighting on the trackpad, not found on the old controller.

Looking forward to some online gaming with a few new friends on PSN. grin

edit: only gripe is playing ACS at 30FPS, it hurts my eyes.

Hi guys, received a used Elgato HD 60 game capture device which can be used to record gameplay on PS4, Xbox One, PC mainly as it only has HDMI input. This device can record gameplay at up to 1080p60 and is capable of recording and streaming to Youtube, twitch and similar at decent settings too. There's nothing like a crisp video on Youtube when watch on your favorite device.

This will be used to capture online gaming with other 9ja players who predominatly use PS4 devices and for the missus to record her MKX and BF1 gameplay which will also go on her Youtube channel coming soon.
