Below are photos of Kurutie takeoff campus of the Nigerian Maritime University,Okerenkoko,Gbaramatu Kingdom.

The buildings at the Kurutie site include a storey building that  houses the VC’s office and its supporting staff. Others include offices for the registrar, bursar, HoDs, deans, accounts department, boardroom, conference room, general offices and other ancillary offices that are all furnished.

Other structures include a 1,200 capacity ceremonial pavilion, a 9 bed medical centre with a yet to be furnished digital laboratory, workshop block, a storey building with a 12 classroom block, two canteens, an e-learning centre and a fully furnished 200 capacity lecture auditorium.

It should be recalled that Rotimi Amaechi while trying to justify the Federal Government's decision to scrap the Nigerian Maritime University once told the senate Committee on Marine Transport that there was no work on the Permanent site of the Maritime University in Okerenkoko, Delta state and insisted that what was on ground was “just the feasibility study”.Amaechi said;

“Whoever that is holding on to the money should better return it. The Chinese company contracted, confirmed that only the feasibility study was in place.”

Wow nice one... This amechi of a guy is gradually turning enemy of the South. Even if he feels that there has a foul play in the expenditure of the process of setting up the the uni why not make adjustments but ensure that work continues why try to kill the project entirely

This is very nice, Amachi is a liar because just three buildings are enough for a university that has received several billions of naira from the looting past government. Dear O.P., I think you need brain surgery.

The mediocrity in the Nigerdelta is naesauting. Can this structure even function as a secondary school let alone a specialised university? It is more unfortunate to see people like the op hail this mockery of an effort after the huge amount disbursed and spent.

It's really terrible my brother. You need to see my people jubilating over mediocrity. I'm sick and tired of complaining and telling them to question our leaders. Both past & present have been utterly useless. Posterity would definitely judge them but in the mean time ekts not get used to their useless leadership and speak up and out.

This looks more like an estate built by a middle class income earner. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't pass for an estate in certain locations in Nigeria.

Nothing about it bears any semblance to a university.

And some people keep gloating over it. It's no wonder they continually fall prey to politicians.

Who's to blame them anyway; they barely see any projects much less tell a worthwhile project apart from a rip-off.

Nice, but it looks more like a faculty to me. Couldn't a faculty be established for it in a Niger Delta university.

Nigerians still believe in large buildings as the definition of a university. grin cheesy

Many world class universities do not have massive buildings. They are just well-organised and classrooms are used with strict time table.

Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Bologna, Heidelberg, LSE, etc are good examples.

To begin a maritime university (specialist school), these buildings are more than enough.

How come it took 6months to produce a pictorial evidence of the physical work on the university site.
This seems like a secondary school boarding house building and environment though

All i see is 3-4 structures that looks like an accommodation sandwiched together on 2 plots of land shot from the different camera angles. where are the remaining structures? "1,200 capacity ceremonial pavilion, a 9 bed medical centre with a yet to be furnished digital laboratory, workshop block, a storey building with a 12 classroom block, two canteens, an e-learning centre and a fully furnished 200 capacity lecture auditorium" as described by the OP. Why do we like to feed ourselves propaganda because some of us are not privileged to verify the structure... 19 billion Naira structures...SMH

Ask how much this cost

They'll tell you, 1 billion naira. Whereas this should not have cost more than 100 million naira with direct Labour.

The corruption hanged on this project is what Rotimi Amaechi kicked against and not siting the University at all.

These pictures can be anywhere in Nigeria.

Op, convince us this is the university, we are reasonable and don't belong to the blocked heads who always term everything this govt does as lies, they even claimed their births are lies.

This could have cost billions of Naira

How many of those criminals who actually want money would be willing to drop arms and take to education?

Is this a permanent site or temporary location. Because at the ground breaking of this institution it was stated that the temporary location will start admitting student by sept. So who is telling the truth?http://www.stcharlesedu.com/2014/05/nigeria-maritime-university-warri-okerenkoko-nimasa-courses-application-programme-form-for-admission-closing-date-and-entrance-exam-result.html?m=1
