Apple has acquired Chinedu Echeruo’s HopStop.com, The Wall Street Journal’s publication, AllThingsDigital reports. Founded in 2005, HopStop.com makes mobile applications for both iOS and Android that covers over 300 cities and that helps people get directions or find nearby subway stations and bus stops. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed as at the time of this publication.

Apple has acquired Chinedu Echeruo’s HopStop.com, The Wall Street Journal’s publication, AllThingsDigital reports. Tripology.com was acquired in 2010 by American travel and navigation information company, Rand McNally. He was named Black Enterprise Magazine’s Small Business Innovator of the year and listed in the magazine’s Top 40 under 40 and is currently a partner and head of the Principal Investing group at Constant Capital, a West Africa based investment bank.

Glaucoma is an eye disease that damages the optic nerve and impairs vision which in many occasions progress to total blindness. Glaucoma affects people of all ages, and is the second major cause of blindness globally after cataract and can neither be prevented nor cured medically. Medical researchers are yet to discover the aetiology of glaucoma which holds the key to its curability and possible prevention. However, medical advice encourages people to go for test as early detection may not prevent it but will certainly help in its management pending the discovery of total cure. It is an eye disease often described as “slow finisher” due to its tardily but steadily degenerative nature to the optic nerve of the eye.

Everybody is at the risk of glaucoma but some people have higher risk than others. The simple question is, why are some people at higher risk than others? Those who have higher risk of glaucoma are African people, the elderly who are 60 and above, heavy users of computer, people with disease conditions like hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, progressive myopia, low thyroid function and users of corticosteroids (asthma and arthritis patients). According to the Glaucoma Research Foundation, over 60 million people currently have glaucoma worldwide. The causes of glaucoma have not been established which have triggered some unverified reports that it could be genetic. Whatever the cause, some of the symptoms have been established which among other things include eye pain, headache, cloudy or foggy vision, poor night vision and peripheral vision loss.

Based on emphasis medical researchers have placed on the early detection, Sir Emeka Offor, through his foundation, the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation SEOF, have entered into sponsorship agreement with University of Mainz in Germany where he has contributed over £250, 000 to the Department of Ophthalmology of same University. This partnership funding is to help the research for its causes, the cure and its early detection especially as it has been established that no fewer than 4.5 million Nigerians live with this malaise. He is not just committing his finance to the research, he is making sure that massive campaign and free testing is administered to Nigerian populace soon. Major breakthrough of this funding will come when the aetiology of glaucoma is fully discovered and understood.

What then is the aetiology of glaucoma? Aetiology of Glaucoma is simply the root cause of glaucoma as a disease while glaucoma is a degenerative eye disease triggered by improper protein metabolism rooted in poor gut function. Poor digestion of protein due to low stomach acids deprives the central nervous system (brain, nerves, spinal cord and the eyes) amino acids and other key nutrients needed for production of neurotransmitters to conduct nerve impulses. The central nervous system degenerates and malfunctions without adequate protein in absorbable form.

November – Alan Pardew (Newcastle)
Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield was the stand-out result for Mourinho’s team in November as they picked up 10 points from a possible 12 for the month with a goalless draw at Sunderland preventing a clean sweep. Newcastle actually lost to West Ham late in the month but three earlier wins that made it five in a row for Alan Pardew’s team which saw him get the nod.

December – Manuel Pellegrini (Man City)

Newcastle actually inflicted Chelsea’s first defeat of the season in December, but four wins kept them on course at the top of the table. Manuel Pellegrini’s Man City were closing the gap though and enjoyed their best month of the campaign with five wins out of six that included convincing away wins over Sunderland and West Brom.

January – Ronald Koeman (Southampton)

It was a tough start to 2015 for Chelsea as they were beaten 5-3 at Tottenham on New Year’s Day and the month ended with a 1-1 draw against Man City. In between there were fine wins but Koeman’s Southampton managed three victories from three attempts – including clean sheets and three points over both Arsenal and Manchester United – to make the Dutchman an obvious choice.

February – Tony Pulis (West Brom)

There were one-goal wins over Aston Villa and Everton as Chelsea started to grind their way to the finishing line, but they were unable to beat Burnley in a controversial 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. It was Tony Pulis who was named manager of the month as his West Brom side remained unbeaten in February, picking up eight points and keeping three consecutive clean sheets in the process.

March – Arsene Wenger (Arsenal)

There were only three games for Chelsea in March and while Southampton left Stamford Bridge with a point, two tricky away fixtures against West Ham and Hull were safely negotiated as the Blues moved to the brink of the title. Even so, there could be no arguing with Arsenal’s form as they won all four of their games to give Arsene Wenger manager of the month award No 14.

April – Nigel Pearson (Leicester)

Chelsea powered through April with four wins from five that included a 1-0 win at home to Manchester United and a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium. Chelsea finished with a 3-1 win at Leicester but that wasn’t enough to wrestle the manager of the month award from Nigel Pearson given the remarkable run that saw the Foxes find four wins on the bounce prior to that.

For women, masturbation can help prevent cervical infections and urinary tract infections through the process of “tenting,” or the opening of the cervix that occurs as part of the arousal process.
Tenting stretches the cervix, and thus the cervical mucous. This enables fluid circulation, allowing cervical fluids full of bacteria to be flushed out.

Masturbation can lower risk of type-2 diabetes (though this association may also be explained by greater overall health), reduce insomnia through hormonal and tension release, and increase pelvic floor strength through the contractions that happen during orgasm.
For men, masturbation helps reduce risk of prostate cancer, probably by giving the prostate a chance to flush out potential cancer-causing agents.

Masturbation also improves immune functioning by increasing cortisol levels, which can regulate immune functioning in small doses. It also reduces depression by increasing the amount of endorphins in the bloodstream.

Masturbation can also indirectly prevent infertility by protecting people from sexually transmitted infections (STIs) that can lead to infertility – you can’t give yourself one of these infections!
There is one final benefit to masturbation: it’s the most convenient method for maximising orgasms.
And there are plenty of additional benefits from orgasms generally, including reduced stress, reduced blood pressure, increased self-esteem, and reduced pain.

Mahashta Mûrasi, a retired cobbler from northern India, claims he was born in January 1835, making him not only the oldest man on earth, but the oldest to have ever lived, according to the Guinness World Records.

There has been an “unusual high mortality” in two poultry farms and live bird markets in Kano and Lagos states, the federal ministry of agriculture and rural development announced on Thursday. It made the announcement after samples forwarded to the National Veterinary Research Institute tested positive for H5 strain of Avian Influenza Virus, otherwise known as bird flu.

But it was still awaiting the results of confirmatory samples sent to the International Reference Laboratory in Padova, Italy, for further characterisation. The ministry said it had taken some measures to contain the outbreaks in the affected sites, such as quarantining the infected premises and placing restriction of movement of poultry and poultry products into and out of areas around infected premises.
