We Demand Restructuring by maclatunji(op): 3:13pm On Sep 23, 2017
Having seen how the people and leaders of the Southeast have failed to provide progressive leadership for themselves and sought to extend conflict to other regions of the country.

We demand that the number of states in the Southeast be reduced to 2.

Afterall, Cross River State is approximately half the size of the Southeast states put together and the good people of this state have not caused trouble in Nigeria.

Merge the states of the Southeast into 2 and they too will probably learn to count their blessings rather than cause trouble with mischief.

Yes, other regions of Nigeria have problems but none has sought to drag the country into total anarchy for the most part with hate speech in particular and false news spread eagerly to ensure division and ultimately war.

The parasitic north, west and east sells and earn her own contribution that's hardly taxed into personal pocket while the ss sells and pays majority of her own contribution into the federal purse from where it is redistributed in a way that further favours the north. The injustice is too much. We need restructuring. Just Look at how dwindling crude price inspired a rice-revolution.
We must restructure. Imagine 15 years time when population is 250 million and oil dries up suddenly. No industries. No serious education. No adequate power. No civil understanding. Just population waiting on a empty govt for food.

You are of course entitled to your own (foolish or wise) opinion.

Must you display your hatred for the southeasters so openly?

If your wish could become binding on all, we now know what they will be. But, I wish you prosperity and better reasoning.

No abuses, you are our friend.

Change of mindset is critical. Any governor in Nigeria can bring real development to their state as Nigeria currently is. Yet, they are usually quick to shift blame while they become instant billionaires by doing next to nothing.

See how you have equated restructuring of the Southeast state to hatred for the region.

Counter my proposal with valid points not emotional appeal to sentiments.

Do we hear the people of Cross River causing trouble?

They simply asked to leave the country. How does that translate to dragging your lazy ads into trouble?

While you pointed out that SE should be merged into two state I must add that Osun and Oyo can be merged back, same for Ogun and Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti, Kaduna and Nasarawa, Kebbi and Kano, Kogi and Edo, Benue and Ebonyi, Bayelsa and Rivers.
There is no point creating more units that can't cater for themselves. There should be a policy preventing the use of oil proceeds to pay salaries anywhere. IGR should be used as a yardstick for granting states loan and for rating. Taxing should be encouraged. A standard business model structure should be put in place across all MDAs in such a way that admin and utility technical staff can be transferred from one MDAs to another at most every 30 - 36 months.

While I have based my initial post solely on political/security considerations. You are basing yours on Economics.

Your point is valid. However in any such merging of states, the Southeast is likely to be merged into fewer federating units than any other region.

The easiest way for the Southeast to gain political ascendancy is to excel first such that others would want to benefit from it.

Kebbi was not afraid to collaborate with Lagos. Kano wants to do the same, Ogun copies Lagos structures in a wholesale manner.

The influence of Lagos and a Tinubu for example has grown as a result, not through hate or sedition.

You are avoiding the real issues here. Governors can bring change but why aren't they bringing it?
The governors themselves are active agents of corruption. Why should a LGA with less than 5 vehicles be having 40 drivers on their payroll? Why should governors be allowed to borrow with unstable abuja-allocation, when they have a IGR figure that's more predictable?

Seriously, Lagos is a bigger Economy than Kenya. So, what Project can it not carry-out within its territory?

If each state know there is no periodic 30 days freebie in sight don't you think they would sit up and make their states more conducive. If this was the case even a war ravaged Borno will look for a way to attracted industries.

There will always be monthly allocations but the idea is for it to become largely irrelevant as it has become to Lagos.

hmmm, Nigeria was designed to favour those northern parasites & that's the reason behind my moniker. How much do they contribute to Nigeria economy & how much do they receive in return?
If South West happens to stand alone today, it will be turned to better of what we have today in the next 10years. forget about Obasanjo, Tinubu factors that can hinder our progress because its either they cooperate or they become past.
