Who says they must do IT from school. You can do your IT in any city. The school is not liable to leave their hostels open for IT students. Halls of residence are to serve students when school is in session. When school is off session, they find alternate accommodation.
Sometimes you leave m bewildered. Do you know the present state of renting somewhere (even if it's a remote 6 month or 1 year training duration) in town or anyhwere else? I you think we are dealing with children on the governor and senators? Are you aware that in a sane society those kids ought not to live in those 'rat mines' called hostels? Should we even be having this conversation? There are numerous female hostels in that school. One should be released for them, increase their hostel fee for that session, let them leave the school in peace, no need to add to their suffering.

What actually happened between the campers and the authorities? The school wouldn't just get up and throw those students out; something must've transpired -- the students hostel fees might've expired; the students might have flouted all warning notice and ultimatum to quit; there might have been a security breach somewhere. Until I hear the authorities version, I won't conclude. Meanwhile, it's quite unfortunate that IT students are going through this. Anyone that stays around them should be a patriot and provide an alternative accom for them. Most of them are from very far places. They must've been stranded by now.

Possible...there are large scale industrial farms in Nigeria
cheesy

My brother, I believe that you know that the word IT has been bastardized alongside other terms in our educational system. I can bet that none of them is doing the IT at an industrial farm.

First list just came out on Wednesday, intuition should tell them that they have to make way because the space they are occupying can be allocated to another student at any point in time.

You paid for hostel for one session. Once the session is over, you exit the hostel. Schools always give students ultimatum when to leave the halls of residence. Now if you decide to ignore the school authorities then go ahead to bribe some corrupt hall officials to extend your stay, expect whatever comes your way.
That's it.
I believe students at the undergraduate level should know their rights, but it seems they don't

Was she assaulted or did she fall during the forced eviction? Looks like she got the injury from a fall to me. If she had obeyed the rules of the school, she wouldn't have gotten injured like that. Someone commented earlier that the hostels have been reallocated, meaning those students must have been given several notices to vacate the premises. You get whatever comes to you if you decide to prove stubborn and go against laid down rules
madam there are no rules here, seems to me the only rule working here is "force" (thats the nigeria factor). If there are rule, there wouldn't be any need for any chaotic eviction. What if some had died? It seemed to you that she fell and broke head yet you don't think the evictor caused her injury? There are due process sis. bytheway because it seemed like a fall to you doesnt mean it is a fall.

UNN just resumed school for the 2017/2018 academic session. The primary admission list is out and new and old students are returning to school and they need hostel accommodation. Who knows, maybe they overstayed their time in the hostel?

Normally temporary accommodation is given to students for those doing IT in the farm or those doing TP as in the case of education students because it's compulsory they must do it in schl and they pay for this accommodation so the security was really wrong..the dean of students affairs has apologized and given them a new hostel to stay in
Simple and short! This ought to have been done earlier, would have prevented this unfortunate incident.

but it should be done in a legal way, In civilized countries that girl with blood on her forehead can sue the school. The problem is we aren't organized in Africa.
You mean sue the school? She'll sell herself cheap. She should sue the country to start with...everyone would sit up. Sue the damn country.

There will be no 'authority's version'. The dean has apologised, they've been relocated, life goes on...

How beautifully Nigeria treats her citizens? We will know after the case is taken to the right authority to look into it.

IamHeWrites:
Some students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who are observing their Industrial Training, have been thrown out of their hostel. The incident took place this morning.

According to Pascal Emeka, who was one of the affected students, “Around 11am today, the hostel supervisor of Isakaita hostel used bell to go around the hostel, telling students that he was giving us 30minutes to pack out.

We explained that most of us are doing our industrial training either in the Farm, in the case of Agric students or in schools as in the case of Education students. He insisted that he was only giving us 30 minutes to pack out.

To where, he didn’t say. We told him to give us time, so that those that went to farm can come back. Note that we paid N1k for the tempora accommodation. He said he was going to call security for us.

In less than 10minutes, UNN security came and started beating and kicking girls out of the hostel. They were shouting on us, calling us all kinds of degrading names, their favorite being prostitutes.”

There are agricultural students that mostly do their in the school farm same with some engineering students which I was one and I stayed in the hostel without any extra cost, even final year students stay back till they're done with their projects, there's something called temporary accommodation when school is out of session and even at that they don't deserve such assault!
Just ignore the ignorant guy. He don't even know anything about university. In my school, courses like library science, Geography, Engineering, Agric, Medicals do stay back to do their practical work at some level. The University would always give them temporary accommodation during the long val. Without collecting a penny. It's normal. Igbos are too wicked to themselves, all they know is money!

This is no way to treat the students. My Isa kaita sisters, sorry o.
How in the world were they supposed to pack ALL of their belongings in 30 mins and to where in fact? For crying out loud, they're IT students as many of them will still be interning at one place or the other within the school.
SMH
UNN security only get power for girls side. Try am for Eni Njoku or Alvan hostel. Bullies!

Prof. Benjamin Ozumba, please do the needful. The excesses of these security operatives needs to be checked and nipped in the bud. Fast.

Pls just keep shut if you don't know what to say. Yes first list came out, who told you hostel portal is open, they haven't even started paying for school fees not to talk of hostel fee. They were asked to leave so that the hostel will be fumigated without any prior notice.
