Goodluck Jonathan Dissolves The Federal Executive Council The acting president, Goodluck Jonathan, has dissolved the Federal cabinet, government sources say. Former Vice president now acting president Jonathan assumed the apex office in February amid the continuing illness of President Umaru Yar'Adua. Mr Yar'Adua went to Saudi Arabia for treatment in November last year and, despite returning to Nigeria under tight security recently, has not been seen in public. Mr Jonathan's executive powers allow him to sign legislation, reshuffle ministers and release oil funds. The nation awaits her new cabinet as the dust settles.
