Some people are trying to update their Android or to customize it directly on their phone. However, for that less tech-savvy this action can e a risky one.

If you want to tweak your phone's OS without any risks you can install an Android image on a virtual machine.

You’ll need a couple of things to get started:

1. VirtualBox: Download and install VirtualBox if you don’t already have it—it’s available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

2. The Android x86 ISO: You’ll need to grab the Android x86 ISO for whichever version of Android you’d like to try. At the time of writing, Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is the most stable release, which is what I’m using here. http://www.android-x86.org/

Then you will need to create a Virtual machine for Android and install the .iso image you just downloaded from the android website.
