What are you trying to achieve with it? It is not a DAW , but more or less a processing software.

To answer your question, as a free ware it is very good. Play around with it and read the help guide. You may want to check online too for guidelines.

All of them have their strengths.

As it stand I used Reaper for the last work I submitted here.

I am guessing you are recording from home? Give mixcraft a try, it is meant to be very easy and with plenty of loops and what not.

Finally, it all boils down to budget. Free softwares are free for a reason, you may have to shell out at some point to buy something. But it is best to get yourself the basics knowledge from the freewares.
