For your nephew, it would be better for him to pick one, then expand, I won't advice anyone to learn more than one skill at the same time.

I don't think they should be compared, because to make money you need to :
# UNDERSTAND YOUR CRAFT TO A LARGE DEGREE
# KNOW THE BUSINESS SIDE OF IT
# PACKAGE YOUR YOURSELF/CRAFT
# CONNECTIONS

I don't know of any school.
Obviously learning those three at the same time will definitely cost more..

Since you just started learning graphics designer, I Will tell you not to rush the learning process, take it, a step at a time.

You said something about asking yourself if this thing is for you or not... [that is self doubt] My guy it happens to everyone including those who you think are making waves in which so ever industry, just name them.
Every of my ART that turned out really good, where the ones I doubted the most, just imagine I let that doubt pull me down, I wouldn't have finished/started it, a good example is the (ROBOTIC RONALDO).

The only way you can know, if PIZZA is something you will enjoy is to taste it first. Not everyone enjoys PIZZA.
The only way you can know, if something is good for is to try out first.

would you like to be taught with the use of a DRAWING TABLET or you prefer I teach how to use the MOUSE? I would really love your responses.

I personally make use of a drawing tablet for all my art.

On this platform we've all seen different kinds of creative work, those that are:-
Excellent
Awesome
Beautiful
Ugly
Worst
Just name it.

As a digital vector artist, I started out "uglyfunny" ie I create art that made people say don't ever try this again, lol.
Looking at my journey so far I can safely say my art skills as improve, though am not yet where I want to be as a digitalartist.
Those who gave the earlier comment, now see my art and say BOSS, MY OGA, MENTOR, GUY SHOW ME WAY, etc. I know some of you can definitely relate. ( such is life)

Well am writing this to those who just started out and are yet to see any improvement in their craft, be it graphics and design , Art and illustration, music etc all kinds of creative work.
I have two things to say to you.
1. BE HUNGRY
2. NEVER GIVE UP

Someone might be thinking what of CONSISTENCY, yeah, yh, yh, you are a right but the fact still remains, if you are not HUNGRY you can't be CONSISTENT.

I hope this little write up has ignited the spark you.
