Sensitive information ranging from Bank account number to passwords are always the target of hackers. There are many ways such data can be accessed from your smartphone but our focus today is clipboard. This is critical as most of us are not ready to type in passwords always or memorize them hence copy/paste. The problem is, every app in your smartphone can access the clipboard – the temporary storage for everything copied. To make the problem worse, most of these apps that can access the clipboard can do so without your permission.

ARE MY SENSITIVE INFORMATION BEING STOLEN
That’s a good question, the answer is not simple all the same. Hackers will try to steal it, apps infected with malware or from unknown sources will do same, maybe untrusted genuine app.

THE CLIPBOARD ISSUE BECAME CRITICAL FOR US WHEN ELLIOTT ALDERSON ACCUSED ONE PLUS OF SENDING DATA FROM CLIPBOARD TO A SERVER IN CHINA.

According to Elliott, “The @OnePlus #clipboard app contains a strange file called badword.txt In these words, we can find: Chairman, Vice President, Deputy Director, Associate Professor, Deputy Heads, General, Private Message, shipping, Address, email…” and many more sensitive.
