Guys I need good advice from you .since I graduated, getting that dream job has not been easy. But recently, fortune smiled. A relation call and asked what I was doing, I explained. In summary, he offerd me a scholarship for an Msc overseas .the scholarship was to the tune of over 5million. (includes fees, up keep, etc) but the other angle to the issue is that my only sister who is the closest person to me; In fact she is like a mother to me. Suggested that that money be spent on a business here in Nigeria rather than on msc overseas . she claims that there is a global recession and that going overseas is not as it used to be and that an msc does not guarantee a job any were in the world. But ur business would do. She gave instances of people who left for overseas and are suffering and have seen the idea as a waste of cash.she said a lot to discredit the idea and totally do not believe in it. On the other hand I gave her reasons why I should upgrade my qualification as its gives you an edge. And prepares you for big opportunities when they come. I had also wished I had the opportunity in time past and now here it is.plz note, this sister of mine is the family I have. She is 13 yers older than me and honestly. Has never deceived me . but in this case, it seems we are both right but in opposing perspective. My sponsor left the decision to me as he has no problem with any of the choices though he proposed the Idea of msc Overseas. I believe there are great brains here please help me analyze this situation your honest perspective could help me crack this.
Please I am new to this site so pardon me if I sound funny. I just need ur advice. Thanks.

@col dubako

You are right about the importance of more education and ur sister is also right when she said Msc will not guarantee you a job however there is no guarantee that the business will be sucessfull as well.

Are you interested in business at all? What is ur interest in life?

How are you sure that the family friend of urs will give you that money cash to start a business?

Take the opportunity of doing your masters now and please ensure you have a good grade. Jobs will come and then you can save towards business.
What is the assurance that if you invest the money into business that you will hit it. God that provided this family friend is not dead yet, he will give you job.

I would have outrightly asked you to shun oversea master degree program and opt for business as ur sister advised, but I'm not sure the business stuff would be a good idea considering the ups and downs of the Nigerian economy, the risks of robbery, fire outbreak and insincerity of the people we transact business with make setting up business a very difficult decision in Nigeria of today. A business of 5 million Naira will only thrive for a while but may collapse at the least expected time.
So my dear, go for the MSC program, this might afford u a lot of opportunities u may never have thought about, besides, u might just be so fortunate out there while there may be thousands suffering! Remember your sponsor's preference is M.Sc, who knows how God can still use him to do sth greater in ur life after u might have completed this first stage. Above all pray to God for guidance and think deeply about my view cos I wrote this reply immediately I finished praying! May God guide u aright my dear.
