The answer seems to be 45 in another way

1 + 4 = 5

2 + 5 (=7 + 5 above) = 12

3 + 6 (=9 + 12 above) = 21

4 + 7 (=11 + 21 above) = 32

5 + 8 (= 13 + 32 above) = 45

1 + 4 = 5

2 + 5 (=7 + 5 above) = 12

3 + 6 (=9 + 12 above) = 21

4 + 7 (=11 + 21 above) = 32

5 + 8 (= 13 + 32 above) = 45
