Different skins Textures of hair and smoothe Colours of black and white Eyes of eclipse, sunset and sunrise Smiles of bliss and agony Thoughts of fame, peace and tomorrow Counted heartbeats I didn't choose my brothers Nor any of my sisters Acknowledged myself in Africa Learning about my fatherland And identity is our culture Hating racism And promoting tribalism? We're one? Promoting majority in democracy And democracy in majority? As long as you have the materials You own many mouths For the opening And the closing Segregations Discriminations Marginalizations Your tribe against mine Bible against the Quran Education against illiteracy Class against street When can we settle for humanity? Till the sun rises from the North? Till the moon is no longer seen at night? Till the stars feel shame? Till heroes be forgotten? Stars are different But they do shine United to making a glaring nighty sky. We're different, yes We can be united to a shine of love For you only notice the stars In moments you have peace and love Have love Share it Have peace Share it Make the world a place for humanity Make it a better place Not for you But for our generations we borrowed from ~ Agba Sixtus ©2018 |
