Create A Budget! by Hegela(op): 12:51pm On Dec 24, 2018
"Budgets are for poor people. You don't need to have a budget. In fact 'ehn', creating a budget for the month or year displays a lack of faith in the provision power of God! Just spend your income and trust God to always 'provide for all your need according to His riches in Glory'!"

The above and other wrong concepts are some things that you must drop going into the new year.

But to start, what is a budget and does it really display a lack of faith in God?

A budget, according to dictionary.com, "is an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time; a plan of operations based on such an estimate; and an itemized allotment of funds, time, etc., for a given period".

Let's hear what God has to say as it concerns budgeting:

Luke 14:28-30 (MSG):
"Is there anyone here who, planning to build a new house, doesn't first sit down and figure the cost so you'll know if you can complete it? If you only get the foundation laid and then run out of money, you're going to look pretty foolish. Everyone passing by will poke fun at you: 'He started something he couldn't finish'."

Luke 16:2 (ESV)
"And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your management, for you can no longer be manager'."

From the above, we can see, that an unbudgeted year is a potential year of failure! Not having a budget for the day, week, month and year shows a gross irresponsibility, lack of accountability and an act of mismanagement of the funds God has and will entrust into your care.

You see my friend, every income received in the form of gifts, salaries, profit from businesses etc are resources entrusted into your hands by God. At the end of our time on earth, He expects us to turn in the account of how we have managed the resources he has given to us! If your salary is 70,000 naira, then there should be a plan for expenses to be incurred, amount to be saved, reinvestment plans (if any), etc

Challenges will surely come every year, but having a budget helps you prepare ahead; it gives you the needed shock absorber for the problem(s) that should have swallowed you; it cushions the after effects of these anticipated issues and also allows you come up with feasible saving and investment strategy(ies).

Imagine wanting to get a car, the first thing you should do is know how much you have saved up, how much you will be receiving before the time of getting the car, the cost of the vehicle, maintenance cost, the source of purchase, etc. It will be futile to just get a car not having placed all of the aforementioned into consideration!.

Frankly speaking, It is good to have themes for the year, to say 2019 is your year of 'Abundance', 'Breakthrough on all sides' and all the rest; but until you intentionally make and follow through some basic principles, then forget it! Such themes will become meer wishes!

It is time to live an intentional life! 2019 should not be lived through by happenstance! It is OK that you had no plan for 2018, but beloved, never allow the same happen in the coming year. Now is the time to plan! Now is the time to budget! Now is the time to get serious with your life. Just do it!

I call you blessed. God's grace will help you end well this year. He will grant you strength and help in times of need. He will deliver you this period according to His promises and at the end all will be well with you and yours in Jesus name!

From Her Royal Sweetness and I, we wish you a Merry Christmas!

We love you and there is nothing you can do about it!

God bless you excessively!
