If Manchester City can beat Man United tonight, is the Premier League title race effectively over?

Wednesday’s clash at Old Trafford is City’s game in hand over Liverpool.

If City beat their city rivals, the Sky Blues will move two points clear of the Reds.

Should Pep Guardiola’s side then win their three remaining games, the championship will head to the Etihad Stadium regardless of how Liverpool finish the season.


Of course, if United manage to beat City, momentum in the title race will swing in Liverpool’s favour.

Will David Silva start?
The Times and the Manchester Evening News have both issued their predicted Man City XI.

One City player whose position may be in doubt is David Silva.

Times believes that the Spanish playmaker will form part of City’s three-man midfield.

However the M.E.N don’t believe that Dilva, as he’s known amongst Sky Blues fans, will be in the.

Instead Bernardo Silva, or Bilva, will begin alongside Ilkay Gundogan and Fernandinho.

To be clear, Kevin De Bruyne has been ruled out of the Manchester derby with his third significant injury of the season.

Leroy Sane & John Stones
Following on from David Silva, will Leroy Sane start against United?

The German winger has often been benched by Pep Guardiola for the big games.

However the M.E.N believe that Sane will start for City tonight in attack alongside Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.

The Times, meanwhile, omit Sane from the City XI.

At the back, there’s a split in opinion if John Stones will start.

The Times have Stones in a centre-half partnership with Aymeric Laporte.

M.E.N think Vincent Kompany will start instead of the England international.
