Nigerians are reacting to a viral video of Bayelsa state governor-elect, David Lyon, ''murdering'' English language when he addressed some newsmen shortly after his election. Lyon was at the state house earlier this week to meet with Presidnet Buhari and shortly after the meeting, he addressed state house correspondents and his spoken English left many a little suprised. ”Today is one of my great day of my life. They will ask you disdainfully - "is it by English"? But you're supposedly educated. And English is the only language of formal education in Nigeria, so what are you saying? Just look at the names of those mocking him sha. They've started wailing on behalf of the people of Bayelsa as usual. Same way they've been wailing on behalf of the entire South South for five years.  One thing folks don't understand about the average South Southener is that good spoken english isn't their forte. I served in Delta state and can tell you without mincing words pidgin is their official language of choice even in the government house! Jonathan, despite having a Ph. D, makes unpardonable grammatical blunders (eg, how much did Jim Nwobodo stole), and that of Mamma Peace is stuff of legend.
