How do animals without hands deal with quills from a porcupine?

Not very well.

Certainly not in the case of this python.

Poor fellow chose the wrong day to switch meals from the diverse array of animals on its menu. It swallowed a sizeable, 30lbs porcupine whose quills ended up lacerating its insides.

Bitten off more than it could chew: The 30lb porcupine after being cut out of the python.

Human presence might have contributed to this outcome as sources claim the python, on noticing tourists in the area, felt threatened and tried to escape. However, doing so, much like any serpent, involved a great deal of abdominal movements which resulted in the sharp spines puncturing its innards, thus killing the python.

The porcupine was already dead by then so I’d say this one ended in a 1 - 1 draw that day.
