** The reason why some people won't dare go to federal palace hotel to make an enquiry, not to talk of have a meal is because they perceive it isn't for people of their class. Some people won't patronize a venture because they perceive it is either low or higher than their class. There is a perception hovering around every individual and business. Some businesses are entirely perceived to serve both the lower class, middle class and the upper class. Where some are perceived to solely serve the upper class. In same way, some are perceived to solely serve the middle class or the lower class. There are places poor people will never go to. There are places the rich will never buy from. How are you as an individual or your business perceived? Is your business perceived to serve the populace of the poor or perceived to serve the minority of the rich? You have to find a balance. Perception in itself gives the client a sense of satisfaction. You can call it a distant first impression If you're a producer, it is expedient you define your target audience. Apple will become irrelevant the day everyone can afford it, because they're not just selling a product, but with some ego boosting substance. Shoprite will never stop opening its doors to different classes of people, because it is perceived to serve all classes of people. Do you want to serve the majority of the lower class and middle class or the minority of the upper class? Don't just sell to meet want or need - sell a sense of belonging as well.
