From the day life wore me the shadow of a man; I learnt to toil insearch of green pasture. Like the sun,I moved from East to West Hoping to find a resting place. As I number my scars, which has become my wage from my years of labour; My heart retreats into the shell of pain and self-pity; My eyes battle to cage the tears in my eyes; While my tongues breaks into mourning, in the name of prayer. I poured my heart to the quite air, Hoping it will make its way to the higher being my mama told me about in my natal days. With my knees firmly rooted to the ground; I roared like a lion who is battle ready. With words from my mouth making the quite air around me loose its sleep. "God come to my aid, for my strength has failed me!" Was all my ears could hear from my broken voice. Ohuche, Joseph ogbonna. |
