Okay , I'm doing a tutorial online , we were given a web page to build but we were not showed the source code ,I used a different kind of style and code to get the layout different from the normal code the instructor got
is it possible to use different kind of codes to achieve same result or I'm the one making a mistake ?

Its possible. Although some methods are more efficient than others.

If the result look same then you have nothing to worry about. It will be an academic blunder to want a student to achieve same result same way. It only leads to dogmatism. So if yours is good enough you have nothing to worry about.

Different methods are sure possible with CSS.
CSS has flexibility for anything you're styling. But really, it does depends on your ability to use CSS.
