Hi guys, has any of you registered for the Andela Spring Class yet? If yes what language is used in the Home Study Curriculum?

No mails from Andela, though I did all that was required of me and I'm quite sure 98% of all my answers were correct plus I completed homestudy and my plum test was great, Maybe next time Andela should show us test scores and performances. I will feel quite compensated for errors due to wrongly sent mails, if Andela would open source their whole four years curriculum. That way, some of us won't have to go through the hassles of application and re-application without being sure of intake. Hoping to still get in later but I still trudge on in my programming quest, Hope I advance fast enough to not need to them in six months. Best of luck to those who made it, still contemplating on whether to re-apply.

The messages are automated, just as you previously received one reminding you to complete home-study before deadline. My friend got two home study tests but completed just one of them and received the 100% trophy, I got just one and finished it too on the 14th of January(Note that I choose to write mine a day to deadline to actually go through the material thoroughly) with a trophy also displaying on completion. This is a software error at most, just shows us how serious one error can be during software development. Some have already given up hope, some are in tears and the most would be very angry and perturbed because of the amount of time put into studying and taking the test. Don't give up hope, I think with or without Andela, those of us who truly completed the study and took the test without aid would have realized how far they've come and how far they can go with Software Engineering. Continue studying. I personally was alarmed when I got the second mail by 10:52 am this morning, the first mail was okay, the second mail simply made invalid all my attempts at trying to become an Andela fellow, it was a blow below the belt, but I reasoned my way out of it. I've since sent them two mails via the mail addresses "apply@andela.com" and "apply@andela.co". I have also submitted a complaint via their survey forms. If you must send them a mail, ensure that you are polite and articulate because they owe you nothing and have simply kick started your success in a career of Software Engineering. I suggest we all keep studying and keep our fingers crossed. I hope this helps someone. To our success, Wannabe Andelans!

I feel you bro. I was VERY dissappointed when I got the mail too but I knew it was a software error or something. I hope it would soon be rectified. On the other hand if it isn't rectified, l'll never feel like I just wasted my time because I've acquired valuable knowledge which I can still apply anywhere regardless of Andela. So don't be discouraged y'all. Just keep on studying like my boss iykyvic said..

finished my homestudy and plum test test to 100% on tuesday only to recieve two mails this morning that i ve not completed my homesstudy test .the second a regret mail because i didnt complete the home study test . have complain to them via apply@andela.com only to get an auto reply from a machine. please house who get the main contact email of andela ?

I'm having the exact same issue. And I completed my test about two weeks ago. It's really bleeped up..

Just write 'pass' without the quotes inside the class. That's how I did mine and it worked..

Bro I don't really understand the problem you're having. Are we expected to add any other thing to the set apart from the "ANDELA", "TIA and "AFRICA"? What I just did was:
If type(data) == type ({()}):
data.update(["ANDELA", "TIA" , "AFRICA"])
and it worked. But take note of the quotation marks you add to the words. Don't use single and double quotes like they did in the question like this: '"ANDELA"'. I did that initially and the code failed one of the tests..

Bro it's basically like this:

I had problems with this same section too but this was how I finaly solved it. It should work for you too. Goodluck..

All you have to know is that your program should be capable of manipulating the three listed D.S ('list', 'dictionary', 'set') and produce the appropriate results. I initially thought I had to pick one but that gave me error.
Think of how to achieve each one separately and then bring all together.

Hi guys, please has any of you recently completed the Homestudy Curriculum Test for Class XIII? I'm having a lil trouble with the Data Structures section (the DS Lab precisely). All the code I tried to submit were rejected as not correct, and unfortunately one can't proceed to another section without getting the code for the current section right. Did anyone else experience difficulties in this DS Lab section? How did you get through? Please help.!

That was my email above. There was no such mention of session until you are in the curriculum page and are taking any of those quiz.
The exams are sectioned, The quizzes in parts. Once you start taking any of the quiz, your counter starts, though the counter is not visible or maybe I've not found it, you cannot restart that instance of the quiz because it's bound to your registration mailbox by session and cookie. any attempt to reload or go back during the quiz, or once you've clicked the quiz means that you've finished that part of the quiz. The submit button for that quiz grays out.You are no longer able to submit that part. After every quiz, you'll be asked to continue to the next quiz or not continue, the choice is yours to take all the parts once or take them gradually. The quiz sections coincides(don't know if that's the right word to use in this context, maybe matches would be better) with your curriculum sections. This is my third day answering(see screenshot above for those who are in doubt about the session and time frame to answer issue), I left off at 13% to go and study the OOP python part well. In truth maybe I'm just doing the Overkill, because the questions are objective and relatively easy, no real time interpreter to type live code in is present in the quiz. But as I said earlier I'm in this for life, I've got to do all I can to learn this thing.

You've got no problem iphiy. As long as you can learn the what you're supposed to learn (which isn't draconian), you're good to go. Besides, every field needs programmers, so proceed and be the one for your field. In my own case, I'm a physicist.

@ checkmateman: I 'speak' Python already. Learned it from one crazy, brain-tasking and rewarding course on edX that was offered by MIT. (If you want to check out the course later, I can provide you with a link to it.) What's more, I now have a promise by jacob05 to help out where possible. I think you should latch on to that too. However, my major drawback is that I can't feasibly apply yet because I'm three months to the end of my service year in Akwa Ibom.

Please bro provide me with the link to the python course on edX. I would very much like to check it out. Tanx..

Yes it does bro, but in one of their FAQs, they said: "If you applied for Class XIII, the Home Study Test link will be e-mailed to you soon, after which you will have a COUPLE OF DAYS to take the test..." That's the source of my confusion

Please does anyone know the deadline for taking the home study test after you have received the link? Must you take the test within two days?
