Hi, I am finally logging in as a member. I have been lurking this board for almost 3 months now. I love this board. I found this board because I "Googled" a thread on African Americans with Nigerians. I am an African American woman. It has been very informative and pleasant for me to visit this board. I hope to make some new friends here, and share my perspectives as well as an AA female. I must say, there are some, very few, that aren't accepting of us (AA's, women in particular). I hope I can shed some light on the sterotypes and you can learn the truth about our perspective, as I learn the truths about your perspectives. I have read post from members that I REALLY enjoy. Some aren't around anymore, some still are, so I can't wait to post to them. I like what I have read from Seun so far (oh great Forum leader) ![]() He wrote a saying that I have adopted : "Those that can't handle the truth deserve all the lies they get". I use that as my signature on other forums I belong to. Thanks for that. Anyway, thanks in advance for letting me be part of your community! |

could u guys be a little bit explicit on your passions for instance? |
| Re: Introducing Myself by drkchoclit(op): 12:54am On Jun 25, 2007 |
My passions, hmmm. I like reading, writing, participating on forums. I like TV and News about US politics. I like food. I love music of just about all kinds. I love dancing. I love arts and culture. Which would partially explain why I am here. I have befriended and dated people of many cultures, and I want to continue to learn about the Nigerian culture. I believe I'm probably a decendant of Nigerian people. Unfortunately, I'll never know for sure. That's me in a nutshell. Or yes, I'm single. |

| Re: Introducing Myself by drkchoclit(op): 1:43am On Jun 29, 2007 |
Nooooo, I am sorry, I don't. But will you teach me some words What does "am" mean? |
| Re: Introducing Myself by aikmamah1(m): 6:02am On Jun 29, 2007 |
"am" in this context means it, i e "if i begin blow grammer for pidgin" = "if i should start to speak pidgin english" , "you fit understand am" = would you be able to understand it", "because na the original country man language be that" = "beacause it's our indeginous language (version of english)" |

Hi drkchoclit, Your welcome, I see you haven't wasted anytime settling in. Soon you go dey blow pidgin like say 2moro no dey (you'll start speaking pidgin like theres no tomorrow). Enjoy the ride. I love food too, good food of course, though the readily available Nigerian Menu is pretty limited. I believe I'm probably a descendant of Nigerian people. Unfortunately, I'll never know for sure. ![]() I can't help but wonder what that feels like. |

Yoruba people don't know for sure whether Oduduwa came from Egypt. That's exactly the same way it feels. ![]() |

Hi Seun, Great to see you here. More grease to your elbow man. keep up the great work. You given great attention to small details on NL. I won't start mentioning, there are just too many. Yoruba people don't know for sure whether Oduduwa came from Egypt. That's exactly the same way it feels.I still wonder how it feels. I perused you journal. pretty interesting stuff. |

I hope most will be a patient as yourself, and teach me words. I would love to learn. I can pick up the context of some things. ryu11:American food in of itself is limited, but it's expansive because of all of our adoptive cultures and nationalites. There are so many flavors from nationalities, there is a style of cuisine called "fusion" which is literally that, a fusion of different national flavors. Yes I have jumped in head first. But I have been lurking for months, so I felt no need to be shy. I don't try to take over every topic, but yes I want to share my thoughts on topics of interest. Mostly, I'm here for learning and positive dialog. |
